Give your sprites more posture, they look stiff, try a more relaxed pose. And the arm should be longer, they're still short, they should go at least under the waistline.

They're too skinny and the second one's legs look like he broke them. You should look that over.

To put this lightly, the girl needs work, and Paul is fine.

Again, your sprites need longer arms, and define the elbow in the sprite. Paul's legs are too skinny, plus doesn't he have muscular arms? As usual, I say try not to make the body rigid. Try a different pose, instead of the usual stand stance.
The girl doesn't look natural, the body could use more shading, the clothing needs a hint of dark shade (for the shadows), and finally the flat chest, I'd suggest taking a look at a few girl sprites, because your perspective is off.
You could make a bigger sprites, cause that don't look like sprites for LF2... Oh, and about the girl... You should form her waist, like this;
And then you just add this... Or you maybe you want the girl to look fat
