[Sprite/Char] Sharn
#1
BEFORE someone looks the pic please read following part:
This is the FIRST freehand-drawing i've EVER made on Pc.
Before i only did some cubics, sticks and other nonsense.
So, if you want to post things like "That's crap" please press ALt+F4, thank you; i know myself, that it's crap ^^

Normally i never draw anything. But i planned a char with some nice abilitys, but stupidly NO sprite shoot would have fit to him, even recolored... So i decided to try an own.
First i wanted to make a simple stick guy (ROFL Sry, i deleted it somehow, it looked GENIUS funny), but then i tried to resprite a Template. With a combination of luck, paint, Davis and Templat i created that guy.

I know, his hair is stupid, but before he had no hair XD Something is better then nothing.
And yes, that both thingys on his shoulder are sword grapples.

So, for my first pic, what do you think about it? I guess the shading is at least acceptable, if not, pls tell me ^^

PS for Mods:
Atm i will only work on the sprites, when the DCing begins, this tread should maybe get moved into projects...

Not bad! It doesn't quite look lf2 styled, but that's easily fixed. In my opinion, the things you should fix are:

1: The hair, as you said. Making it spiky in some way or another would make all the difference.

2: Get rid of the black outlines

3: It could use some more shading.

Fix those things and I think you'll have a great sprite! Good luck!

This one was made by 100% on PAint by the way...

Oh, yeh this one is to Chishio... ;)
Man! He's so good - did u see his spriting...?
basically alot of his work HE FREEHAND DRAWS! Wow...
Also - when u freehand nobody really cares as much when it comes to LF2 styled when it's freehand... ;)

1. I tried spiky hair but it was really crappy... will try it again, though...
edit: Tried, tried, failed...

2. But i need that outlines. I use them as orientation, a little habit, if you drew cubics, i guess...

3. Where exactly? His right chest is shaded enough, isn't it? I guess you mean his left leg... hmmm...

But thx for your comments ^^

Yeah it's his pants...
Are the pants going to be similiar to Bat's or Davis's?
meaning the type not color...
Also spikey hair is very easy...
first outline the hair, even round hair can look spikey, use just have to be good at shading it... ;)
make the hair have a main and simple color to it...
then go to edit colors change the LUM (the value scale)
and save a darker color and a lighter color...
Now this is the fun part...
Using the Darker Color put it around the sides of his head, make sure to have a "FAKE" light source somewhere, so that one part of his hair his darker and one part lighter...
Now using the lighter color shade the inside of the hair, make sure it's triangular shapes going in a parrallel way or diagonal way or maybe just a messed up way :P
3 or 4 light shapes in his hair ought to do it, make sure they aren't touching each other...
they lighter colors should be closer to the "fake" area source of light, then fade away (make it smaller) from the back of his head or vise versa...?
have fun editing it... :D

P.S. I always need outlines for mine...
Try bluring it out, works for me...

To sum it up: add more texture to it and shade it a little more ;)

Hmmm... Does "shade it a little more" means i should place more shadows, or that i should use more shade colours and not only 3 per area...

But the texture thingy isn't possible for me... It was even har enough to make the char without looking on that point...
