Why isn't CRE catching on?
Is the file too large? (it's even smaller than the original install of LF2 v.2.0 )

Seeing how I didn't even fully read through the thread yet (that's right, tl;dr) I can't really say anything about this but I felt the urge to post in this thread anyways. It seemed like it's very similar to that one thing YinYin made.

Because people here does not play lf2, and even if some do play it, they don't like doing combos at stationary targets, and even if some do like doing combos at stationary targets, they are currently away. Post this at lf2.co.il and maybe it will catch on. (yes I know it's in hebrew, but you ll get response there in few minutes)

1) You didn't upload to mediafire . I personally, ignore every link which isn't on mediafire unless some god like person tells me to go to it.

3) It was tried before by YinYin (he even made a cool sandbag thingy), and failed. (not really a reason but yeah ).

*) Put at least one gif or something, people get excited by pictures. You're post is lacking (when ever I post anything which is over 100 words, people don't read it. When it is over an 100 words and there is a pic/video I get responses say "cool" ).

1) What's wrong with sendspace.com? I prefer sendspace (no 'plz wait xx seconds' or insanely annoying ads) But I'll upload it to mediafire if it makes you feel better ;P
2) Too bad I think it's pretty fun (reminds me of Tekken (always looking for new combos)).

LFE's main problem is that it's the best in data changing, but solely. It never focused in other areas, and even nowadays it's hard to find that many fighters and spriters.

weird that this seems to be a "this is why you phail" thread. I'll (try to?) break the trend a bit.

for thingies like this, you'd need fighters who like to do combos and what not. Personally, I like to do them with people who I'm in sync with (2 player combos). if it's 1 player, I don't find as much amusement (unless it's done in a 1v1, as mentioned before, not on a stationary target coz there's less skill needed there). if the CRE would be 2 players, it'll be harder to find heaps of people who can fight "synced". plus, there's the factor of considering whether both players are willing to use a non-standard lf2 to do stuff.

other than that, the only other factor that wouldn't affect all of us is our school/college/uni work. that probably stops me the most, and the ones who aren't busied by their outside work usually aren't the ones who like doing combos anyway (not enough time/patience to learn?), or as mentioned above again, are DCers or Spriters or Hex editors.

if u go to forum stats, you'll see the most active (replied to) threads are character making ones. not trying to promote my projects or w/e, but i feel that my programming ones are more worth something than single chars, but that's human nature (hence u feel that the CRE ought to be received better/by more people).
Simple way to explain it is, DCing is (or appears to be) much easier to do than hex editing, so the massive DC knowledge boom happened much earlier than the hex one that just happened recently (AI, state xxxyyyzzz etc.). Spriting has a perceived "difficulty" between DCing and hex editing, so that's the next most popular. Fighting, on the other hand, is way more complicated. some people like to fight for fun (see how far they can get spamming moves), some people like skill (see how far they can get with minimal amount of moves), and some like comboing (those u're looking for).

I know lf-empire is more modding-oriëntated, but I hoped that the userbase would be open enough to at least give it a shot before disregarding it.

Nao, answering your questions...

Is the file too large? (it's even smaller than the original install of LF2 v.2.0 ) - To large? Uhm... Nop', I downloaded it^^
Is it too much work? - Starting the game, let it load and play?... nop'
Is it boring? - this really uber mega awesome great thing should be boring???!!!... yap, it is, I played it for 5 minutes, did combos with 2 or 3 chars and then... closed it and didn't touch it again.
I dunno why, maybe because I'm a dc'er only, but I think much ppls on lfe did the same thing like me
