Your first try on DC would surely look same bad (so my first tries on DC and spriting were), but in both cases you will simply need some exercise to get better...

And i would recommend you to do spriting... There are MANY DCers around here, but way to less spriters ^^

As I'm in a good mood right now, I did the job for you.



Now, let's go....

Davis: waaay too pale. Also, the lines are too strong.
Deep: lines are almost acceptable this time. I just don't get what the white dot is supposed to do.
Dennis: too pale, too string lines.
Sorcerer: Why is it so dark and why is there something bright in the top-left corner? I don't get it.

So umh, no offense or anything but I must admit that the title is misleading. Seriously, making faces is not only darken/lighten an image...

Try to visit the sprite section here, then you will see some bigger edits... or complete new sprites ^^
