game kloppen - any joiners welcome

hi^^

i am a big fan of classical beat 'em ups like street fighter or mortal combat.
i often search for good, free/cheap beat em up games but hardly find any.
so i decided to make my own (with gm ofc :P ):

KLOPPEN!
(yep, that's gonna be the name :D )

features:
-2 player vs mode
-1 player vs com mode
-char-editor
-many chars
-oldschool-feeling cause of a 50 color palette


buttons:
left,right -> move (you are always facing to the opp)
up -> jump
down -> defend/evading (if you defend, you still get a bit damage, but evading can't be used at the border of the screen)
A -> punch
B -> special (can be combined with the arrow keys like in ssb)

people i could need:
-GM/GML pros to help me out
-spriters to make chars
-music program users for sounds and music

team:
-bamboori (gm(l) & sprites)
-gad (sprites)
-reaper (sprites)
-shadowlord (sprites & surface)
-someone else (gm(l) & surface)
-magmarine (sprites)

if you wanna be in the team, just post here where you could help.

the character graphics:

you can add more frames to the normal moves, eg you can make punching have 4 frames.

actually I'd like to help BUT I'm currently working on my own 2D platform adventure beat'em'up jump'n'run game :P

so yah, no time to work for yours, but I like that idea

Sounds pretty interesting. Especially as the chars probably have less than/about 40 sprites with special moves. Just some questions:
- how big exactly should the chars be? I mean, they should all be about the same size, shouldn't they? And how big the faces?
- shall it be like JUS-style? I mean, are the chars supposed to have black outlines?

I'm going to give it a try, but I'm not sure if I can make good sprites for it. Well, we'll see.

@gad: k, you're in :D as special attack goes anything from an alternate punch to shooting a dead puppy :P
@reaper: they should have the size of the example char, but ofc they can be slightly bigger or smaller (you can also make a very big one, but max. twice as big).

Only 1 programmer? We need more like em... me!:D

Could probably help on making textures aswell.
Age ratings for movies and games (and similar) have never been a good idea.
One can learn a lot from reinventing wheels.
An unsound argument is not the same as an invalid one.
volatile in C++ does not mean thread-safe.
Do not make APIs unnecessarily asynchronous.
Make C++ operator > again
