my very first sprite
#1
My first post contains my first sprite. how fitting :)

(I hope this is displayed correctly)

well this is the first sprite I ever made. Far from perfect and there are certainly some things I'm gonna change on her in the near future, but I just wanted you experts have a look at it.

because I'm stuck.

this nameless lady is some kind of white wizard, specialized in healing, with an armor, a shield and...well thats why I'm stuck. as a weapon she should have some kind of mace. I tried various things but didn't come up with anything (the thing I look for is something like this: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/co.../Maces.jpg )

is there any mace out there? or a rough form of something similar? and also have you noticed anything which I could improve on the sprite?

(sorry if there are any mistakes, English is not my mother language)

To start with a female char, you're a rare guy ^^ that's not bad at all as the proportion isn't that wrong, but if possible, make her legs a bit thinner because they look like man's legs there. Putting a bit of light colors where the sun is supposed to shine from should perfect it a bit.
oh and i know it's not much but happy birthday!
[Image: sadasd.jpg] -> a mace?
took me some mins to make it but as it's a single sprite it was quick, do what you want with it. Think it's a bit big, so just resize it

Edit: *walks back to pc* oh and almost forgot, welcome to the forum! =D

thanks for the warm welcome.

the mace is great! resized it an added a little stone, fits wonderfully.
Also added a bit more lighting and thinned the legs. looks better now.

thanks!

Welcome! Nice sprite.

Now your task is to create a char out of this.

Edit: below: That's what I meant ;D

I wouldn't go that far yet. Maybe create a few more single sprites to get used to the design. Only if you're certain of your skills, go for the whole char :)

Well, if he has patience he can fairly make it become a char
If you're willing to continue this as a char, update your progress here please, want to see how it moves ^^

Whoa, being your first sprite, that looks awesome! Do you have some earlier experience in computer graphics? And what program did you use to create it?

You guys can read minds. I thought of learning everything through char creation. I got a sheet and the breathing animations (with a little struggle). I'll try to make a gif when I got the walking animations done.

I have no experience in computer graphics. I used to draw a little though. The program is photoshop (also no experience, but I'm learning :))

Ya know... I've made three characters, more or less, and I sprite FAR worse than that. Congrats on a great first sprite! It seems a bit small, but still looks awesome.
EDIT: Oops, just realized it wasn't being shown at its actual size. Looks like the proportions are about right.
