An idea for improvement
#1
What I think you guys should do is make like a thread which has links to all the downloads on LFE and have them under catergories so when your looking for a guy to download you dont need to check all 200~300 characters to find the one ur looking for.

The search thing isn't that helpful when ur looking for like characters based on the original characters. So maybe this is wot it should look like.

Bandit characters.

and so on

Actually, it is possible to sort the downloads on the main site by either Author, Title of the work, Date of Publication, or Hits. On all of the download pages, there is a little drop-down box which allows you to select a way to sort the downloads by one of those aspects.

Currently however, there is no organization based on whether characters are modifications or completely new characters. I also think it would be good to sort characters in that way somehow.

EDIT:
Changed the download organization today, now characters are arranged by the character they are a modification of.

wth

could you still have the all in one category? Oo
i think this is a bit too much - having such a long list when some only contain one or two characters - maybe make it a new criteria like the author in which you type original/bandit/davis/whatever it was made from

umm i don't think i get how this new way works. So for example in the bat section the sprites have bat heads? At first i thought it was the characters that don't replace other chars were in additional characters but a found a bunch of chars that don't replace other chars. Did you make or mistake or am not getting something? I don't think i get how this works

@YinYin: Yeah, that's one of the annoyances with this new organization. The way you described is similar to how I originally wanted to organize it, but it isn't quite so simple. We'll continue looking into ways to improve the organization though. I'm really not that crazy about the length of the sidebar either...

@plankton: The general idea is that mod characters are ones that are essentially characters from LF2 that have been edited in some ways, but they basically have similar appearances and characteristics of the original character. So I guess you could say that for the most part, the characters listed under "Bat Mods" will all be characters that use Bat's sprites with little or no modification.
However, characters that have sprites which combine body parts from other characters will most likely be listed under "Additional Characters". So, for example, the sprites for Regan's Devin character uses Jack's head and Firen's body to create a new character. Since it wouldn't seem right to put Devin under either Firen or Jack, he's listed under "Additional Characters".

I'll admit that organizing the downloads is pretty subjective and there are some difficulties with it, but it seems to work in general and there isn't really that much cross over. If there are any downloads that you think are misplaced, you can pm me, MH, or Marshall and we'll look into it.

why is adding another property not simple?

All of the different properties that each download currently has are all built in to the CMS that we're using. There doesn't appear to be a built in function that allows you to add properties, unfortunately, otherwise, things would be a lot easier.

Guys sorry for posting in an old thread but im finding this new thing hard to use. When i want to search for a particular character i have to check every single one to find him. You should make something which allows u to go to all characters too.
