[Question] Compressing .bmp files
#1
Ok guys, here's my question:

We all know that the LF2 Developers reduced the size of the images by compressing they, reducing their color range from 24 bits to a 8 bits image (255 colors).

This method really reduces the size of the pic, but they COMPRESSED they too, making the images even smaller!

How they did so?

I just ran some checks with a sample image.

Size as uncompressed bmp: 607kB
Size in 8bit color mode: 305kB
Compressed: 54.7kB

When you save bitmaps (in Photoshop), you'll be prompted with a dialog asking for stuff like color modes. Additionally, there is a checkbox in the bottom of this window, saying "Compress File (RLE)". Pretty sure that Marti selected that one.

Already tried, using RLE Compressed bmp files makes LF2 crash.

try image>>mode>>indexe color

and for the color palette use "local perpectual or selective" i always use these settings and it gives me same result as martis bmp's (size compressed and has that lf pixely feel to it)

Thanks.. I might use that only for the HUGE sprite sheets like the grapple hook kick for my Batman if it works well haha :D
