Random questions encountered in PS
#1
Was using it last night before I fell asleep. This morning, the pixel count tool in Navigator is gone. I just want it back T^T. Sounds silly, but those that are familiar with it please lend your expert knowledge on the matter.

Or, if you prefer the less destructive method: Window > Info (F8)

That is, at least how I understood you :p

Okay, new problem here. Not exactly a problem, but wondering whether there's a way to do what I want, so might as well use the same topic.
Here are a sample of scans that I have made of tracing the shape of a leaf:

Is there a way for me to count how many pixels there are within (or including) the outline using PS?

I think u should use lasso tool to select the leaf entirely including outline (or without outline) , Then u could get it. I am not sure where u can see pixel amount.. I only see width and height and there is no pixel amount.. Maybe can u post a screen shot?

Edit ; I solved the problem... u can change between pixels and centimeters. u could also do an alternative version like , erasing white parts with magic wand tool and the ctrl + click on the layer icon . then it displays in info tab.

^ I'm sorry if I'm just repeating what you said, but it wasn't very clear.

Two ways:

1: Magic Wand (with sensitivity ~15 I'd guess) > Set Adjacent (I think it's called) to "on" > Click inside leaf > Check the pixel counter. Should say how many pixels it contains.

2: Lasso Tool > trace the outline > Check pixel counter window.
2b: Magnetic lasso. Nuff said.

Thank you both!
Sir Frog's 1st method seems to be the most hassle free. However, where is the pixel counter...?

Could copypaste it into a new document. Those usually have the size of the clipboard-content.

Not quite sure why you would need it, as you can always scale it up. Also, in CS2 (or 3? Can't remember correctly), the ruler-tool was added, allowing you to quickly determine various lengths. Don't ask me where exactly it is located but it should be there.

OR YOU COULD DO THE DOUBLE-INTEGRAL OVER THE CURVES TO CALCULATE THE AREA INCLUDED

@ v: now this sounds like I don't know about that. I am not talking about the rulers on each side but the ruler-tool in general :|

Mmm... I think I am being misunderstood here. I am not looking for width or height. I am trying to find out the total amount of pixels being selected by the magic wand. i.e. area

ok, i actually found the feature you are looking for.

Go to window > Histogram
There is a little drop down menu on the top right corner of that little window, and make it 'expanded' view.
Make a selection, and it will tell you the right amount of pixels selected.

what it should look like:
