hm.. I actually agree this, though I wonder why this is in website improvement.
should be in general discussion, because it is directed to the people who post => the users, so it's not an website improvement.
otherwise, yes it makes sense, I am not directly affected by it though. Let's hear everyone's opinion!

I probably would be affected by this in a small way. My signature is sort-of big (without the spoilers)...

*testingit* - but then again the avatar and status junk on the left should usually let any allowed sig fit under every short post without it being spam - what i mean is a post takes a certain amount of space anyway
edit: and if a signature does stretch a one line post below the avatar status length it is basically against the rules anyway

Actualy i dont like this idea.
Hate me now...
Sig and post not same thing (captain obvious strikes again)
if post are small, just few words, then mods and admins will be glad to disposal if they think about that as useles post.
Sig, here is rule.
I thought somewhere in options you can turn off all sigs on forums.
Actualy small posts and big sigs, do not bothering me.

I think having an option to hide certain users' signatures could work.
That way, a member won't be able to see it, whilst others can.
For example, I could decide to hide YinYin and empirefantasy's signatures.
It won't appear for me, however, but it will appear to others.

yeah that should be an easy combination of the ignore user function and disable forum signatures option

I've hidden all signatures. I'm not sure that I'm missing anything; even jokes, when found in signatures, tend to depress me for some reason.
On a related note, it's not just the signatures that inflate post sizes, but also all the meta-information the forum software stuffs in to the boxes on the left and below. I'd prefer if it didn't display anything particular to the poster except their name, and that includes the PM button and such. I suspect it'd be easier to read a series single-line posts if there wasn't all this noise in between and around them. Like 4chan. Oh well.
