Hello World or Empire
Lately I've been enjoying composing musics using a MIDI editor. I will do some more and a good motivation is of course responses from others. Recently I created a YouTube channel dedicated for the musics I composed (or maybe played, but currently none). And 0m9 I will bump this thread everytime I successfully write a song (since it usually does take many tries to get one success :P ). OK I am not a real musician or something. In fact I'm not even a good music player :P .
I got the main line of this music when walking around the small city I lived in. Never thought it could turn out to be a good one! I also tried using many different combinations of instruments but decided to use the 'soft' ones.

So if you have some suggestion or feedback, don't hesitate, as long as you mean to be good, you'll be good no matter what you write ;D .

Hey yo!
Had a quick listen to all of your songs and they all somehow remind me of the ambient music to some old rpg games. I don't know, maybe it's that they're all rather short, or if it's the general "background-melody" mood of the songs, or even the sound of the Midi-composer itself, but I think they all need a little more life (?). Hard to describe. By the way, this doesn't mean the songs are bad.
Maybe you could try to make some of your own sounds and use those, oh I don't know.
I liked "Venture" most, I think I might even try to make my own "Venture"-version sometime. ;)
EDIT: Crazy, Gad ninja'd me and said everything I wanted to say.
Quote:btw, what program did you used for?
is this free?
I used Music Masterworks to write the songs. Free? Yeah.. If someone's gonna use it somewhere, they should at least ask and let me know though .
I do feel like it's easier to make slow (or sometimes even sad) songs. But I like fast songs .___.
Wait, so you can use own sounds in MIDI as well? O_o . Well probably Music Masterworks can do that, because when I select instrument, there's something called 'Bank Select', and seems like there are like 32 slots or what it's called, maybe for the sounds we want to use as instruments? But I can't figure out how to use this Bank Select...
Well, technically I didn't really MAKE a complete midi instrument from scratch.
I just aligned the needed sounds I had to the rhythm. That's quite less work than making a completely new instrument. Garage Band can do that, I'm not sure how your software works.
Thanks for the MIDI's, I thought they might hold some shapes/ideas (haven't played around with them though...yet).
Ever thought about using (orchestral) percussion, or even drumbeats? The melodies are nice, but the songs are kind of alike. I'm certainly NOT saying I don't want to hear more though, just saying.
Also, try "forging" sounds. If the software you're using is any good, there should be something like "ENV" (envelope), filters , and effects. In case there's not... well, then there's no sound "forgery". And in that case, If your software supports SF2 (which it really SHOULD), they wouldn't do any harm(>This< and >this< for example).

The software I'm using is not good.
Except that it's simple and easy to use.
I believe there isn't any 'sound forgery' in it. But yeah at first I planned to just use instruments like piano, violin, flute, string ensemble, but then I tried the other instruments I don't even know or probably which don't really exist as a real music instrument (whatever I mean is synthesized sounds).
I think the existing instruments is just more than enough for now ;D . You know, there are 128 or so instruments already.
And now I'm trying to use percussion for the first time. It's very simple, haha.. but I'm stuck with the song right now, can't make the continuation lol
