DH LF2 Color Theory
#1
DesignHeaven LF2 Color Theory

First of all ill say that this theory is just what I think work best for lf2 char designs
you don't have to agree with me or use it for every char u make
but this is just what I think can work really good at some of the basics when u design char

So, let's go straight to the topic
I found out on some of the chars in the game that each of them main a color for their outfit and their skills
the thing is most of the chars use the same concept of colors
the main color goes to the shirt and sometime eyes,
and than they have a pants at a really desaturated opposite color

for example
Bat,

his main color is obviously red
than his eyes and shirt are both red
and his pants got a desaturated cyan

u can find this concept on many other chars like Davis, Woody, Deep, Henry, Monk etc..

hope this help some of u, its just a minimal post and when ill have more time ill write about more things i thought about

With Lauli you've had exactly 1 confirmed interest. With me sitting here and waiting for a follow up since you created the thread you now have 2 interests confirmed.
I'd like to see what more thoughts you have on LF2 colours.

Who knows how many more unconfirmed interests there are for you?
Maybe Sonic Boom and LutiChris have some interest in this?

Everyone who is interested: Post in here to let DesignHeaven know! Donate your interests!

@DH: Honestly though, don't do it for us - do it for yourself. If you don't want to that's fine too.

here's one right here (;
i just enjoy reading these kinds of discussions am not much into posting unless i have something to show but am willing to make an exception just to show i am interested.

i do agree with his theory i did notice lf2 characters have a standout color in their color scheme but that's all regarding my own knowledge so if you have more ideas or theories about this please do share like i said i am for one interested.

update: yinyin you certainly know how to raise up the discussion :P

Trust me, even if people aren't responding, I'm sure there are people who do want to see more. I admit I was only slightly interested though nevertheless would wait to see what else is there to learn.
To live a life of power, you must have faith that what you believe is right, even if others tell you you're wrong.
The first thing you must do to live a life of power is to find courage. You must reach beyond the boundaries of time itself.
And to do that, all you need is the will to take that first step...
Ask not what others can do for you, but what you can do for others.

@davis60 -
If you're looking for a good usage of this, think about making an LF2 styled sprite, he's summed up in one post what was essentially used to create LF2 characters, or atleast the colour schemes so they are not such an eyesore (for example, take a look at my rainbow coloured sprite man, it's horrible to look at, and bright as anything, you'd quit LF2 if you ever downloaded it - which btw, is still a work in progress).
Essentially, if you intend on making an LF2 character, try to use a similar method to how Marti used it.

One thing that DH might not have mentioned however, is that if you look at the colours Marti has chosen, on a few of the characters he has picked 'Complementary Colours'. These are colours that work well together as they are on opposite sides of a colour wheel or near as to it. For example, cyan and red are nigh on within opposite sides of each other. You could always take a look at this link if you'd all prefer a better understanding of it than what I've given you:

'Complementary Colours (Click to View)
Hope this adds a bit of dimension to the post when you update this DH, and I hope it helps those who are onlooking for any random/extra advice.

Eddie
One day, I shall become, TUTORIAL-MAN: Superhero of writing overly long, overly annoying tutorials which most people probably won't read, but will give it a stab at the first 5 lines!
