In those days long gone, I had… quite a lot of issues, though. Including self-loathing.
It wasn't 'til two years ago that I finally started dealing with all those.

So yeah. To those who've been annoyed by past me, including the staff, I'd like to apologize.

Hi, no one's here. God, I'll never get tired of this joke.

Dunno if anyone still recognize me, but I used to be a pretty active DCer round here early 2010ish, with a project or two on Fileplanet. I rediscovered the site while clearing out some old bookmarks, so I decided to pop by, see if there's still any familiar face around, and just shoot the breeze.

So what're you guys up to these days? Doesn't have to be LF-related. Hobbies, life, the "coof," b*tching about work/school, movies, etc. Anything goes (just no politics, coz we all know how fun that is).

As the OP, lemme go first:

I now work as a freelance translator while running a small indie publishing house on the side (though I very much wish for their positions to be reversed ). Surprisingly, all that time spent dicking around dat files was remarkably helpful. Thanks to my DCing experience, I managed to elbow-greased my way through setting up a pretty smooth system with spreadsheets, VBA macros, and AHK scripts. It cut out a bunch of hassles when it comes to terms researching, clearing tabs, gives me an interactive translation memory, an integrated proofread function, and many other quality-of-life improvements to my workflow without me having to shell out money for expensive software.

Ưhat about you guys? How has life been treating you?

Messaging:
Messaging outside the framework of the game is prohibited by default. This rule also applies to the dead.

During the day phase, players participating should use this thread and only this thread to communicate. Everyday, before or after the day phase, players may send up to 3 letters (limit per day) to other players by sending a PM to the game master, with the recipient and body content. A message may only contain plain text (no links/images..etc) with a 300 character limit. Including the name of the sender is optional. Messages are delivered everyday at 5 PM. The messages are delivered to the recipient's home, and therefore a recipient has to physically be in their home to check their inbox and read their messages.

Dead and Asleep Players:
Both are still in game and so may not participate in the thread, nor be involved in any discussion about the game events outside the thread. The dead will be informed of the rules of their world as soon as they arrive.

The dead will be able to "communicate" with alive players in subtle, indirect ways; it will only involve changing the state of the mind (dreams, shivers, strong feelings, illusions ..etc). Another way for the dead to communicate is via the "oracle" as will be discussed below.

Items:
There will be a limited supply of items in the village. Items can be dropped or acquired through actions (should be shown in your action list). At the start, it's implicitly assumed that you're not bringing your item(s) with you. So you'll need to mention that you'll be taking the item(s) with you.

Roles:
The will be no roles in this variation. Everybody will be able to do their investigation and all.
Instead, the game will focus more on giving different players different advantages (not necessarily balanced). For instance, a certain character could have certain "features". For example: a character with more than average-size build that will not fall in combat if it's one vs one, or a character with a unique voice that makes them easy to be distinguished. Another advantage could be in their location in the village, making it easier for them to investigate, or more difficult to attack by the mafia.

Mafia assassination schemes:
Some of the assassination schemes will have certain conditions for success. Hopefully, it will always be something to reason with. Targets will pretty much always have a chance to thwart them by making a certain action.

Post-day phase, travelling and village layout:
In this variation, the village will have a layout.
From after the day phase till before the next day phase, players will have the freedom to move around the village. An important point is, for the mafia to assassinate someone, they will have to take his location into account. For example, if the perpetrator is to stab the victim, they will have to be at the victim's location to carry out the assassination.

Moving around the map will count as an action (see below). The action PM to be sent (again, see below) should contain information about where the player wants to move to and when.
For instance in the layout above, travelling from B to C will most likely take 10 minutes as the path is pretty flat, whereas going from A to B will be slightly faster. On rainy nights, the travelling time can increase drastically if you're climbing up a steep path (from 30 minutes to several hours) so much that you could get stuck in a valley an entire night or for the duration of the rain. Moving to low in such conditions will take slightly more time than normal.

If an event is to happen during a trip (e.g: a confrontation, assault, sees something, hears something ..etc) the player will be notified via PM by the game master, and they will have the option to act or change their course of action.

The altitudes of the different locations will be of significance in determining the time it takes to travel.
If an event is to happen during a trip (e.g: a confrontation, assault, sees something, hears something ..etc) the player will be notified via PM by the game master, and they will have the option to act or change their course of action.

Action phase, Actions and Events:

i created this game in a history class, in wich me and my friend got bored.
how to play:
i will post a stickman. with each post, somebody will empower the stickman in whatever way he likes, until we get dah overpowered stickman!
rules:
1: the game is really simmilar to the sprite game in the spriting forum. you add a detail to empower the stickman, without deleting the details others posted.
2: colors are not prohibited.
3: althrough i cannot set a limit, please do not make too much edits.
4 even thought we must get an overpowered stickman, keep the art simple. do not let your inner picasso out.
5: KEEP IT A STICKMAN. the most important rule. do not change the body of the stickman. but you may change the posture.
6: when we get a chaotic, overpowered stickman, a new round begins

i created this game in a history class, in wich me and my friend got bored.
how to play:
i will post a stickman. with each post, somebody will empower the stickman in whatever way he likes, until we get dah overpowered stickman!

Hello!

So how many of you would be interested in participating in a new mafia spinoff round? I would like to try hosting one. It will probably be far from typical, so it's not guaranteed that it will work. I would like to try something where player actions have lots of influence, and like Ramafia, I want every player's actions to carry lots of weight.

I would like to have more strategy and mind games. I would also like to introduce elaborate murder schemes for the mafia, where the time and path to the victim's house in the village streets (there will be a village layout) can make a difference. Villagers can choose to sacrifice some sleep and to watch over a street corner for an interval of time during the night, and if their guts feeling was correct, they might be able to catch a glimpse of the silhouette of the perpetrator giving away their physique or some other info that may or may not clear a doubt they had. However, staying up until late can mean sleeping over some of the events during the day.

The day phase will be divided between the accusation phase and the voting phase. In the accusation phase, players can contemplate over clues and discuss what they have all gathered, and at the end, everybody may submit a formal accusation with a name and a reason (which they may choose to leave blank) for the voting phase. In the voting phase, players will vote to lynch one of the accused. Those asleep will not participate in the accusation phase if they have missed half of their required sleep intake, and they will also skip on the voting phase if they have missed more than half.

Private messaging will be prohibited. This is of course impossible to enforce, but I trust everybody has the self-discipline to follow the rules of game without anybody watching over them. Before the end of the day, people will have the chance to send me the game master n messages with a name of the recipient, and their message would be delivered - hopefully only to the designated recipient.

I would like to have a backstory that explains the motive behind the acts of the mafia/group of serial killers. Clues of the story will be hidden in the events of the game, and players will be encouraged to discover them and uncover the grand mystery.

This will probably be a pretty complex game and will thus require some time to plan. I will need to have an idea of the number of players. I'm presuming pretty much everybody studying are done with their exams already, and that people are most free nowadays. So if this is not the case for you (you're still doing exams), do let me know.

So, who's in?
