i'm just not lifting john up high above the ground to start it
There was a problem about pet system: If there are more of same characters, it was getting buggy. For example another char could control the pet.
So Is it buggy too for two or more John's?
And what states are u talking about? Will you explain how you combined it with states?

And I guess I succeed at the flame thingy... Look at the this:>>CLICKY<<

i have not encountered the possible problems yet (and i have tried getting them)
the time frames where two johns can perform the spirit release in the exact same moment at the exact same spot are very small
and even if they are met the only thing that would happen is either getting one more chasing spirit per character or just one for both
which is not much of a problem because they vanish and reappear quite often and don't have much of an effect
with states i mean that john is capable of doing different things than usual

very very very rough
i would rather say no
(09-04-2011, 07:27 AM)Lauli Wrote: Are there ordinary enemies in the stages as well (useless bandits for example), or is it just boss and minions?
i am just planning boss and minions but maybe there will be a few surprises

Also the guardrail doesn't fade into the darkness, unlike the road itself.
hmm i don't know why the stripes destroy the perspective - i can't have the road without them and they have the exact same perspective
also the rail does fade - maybe not enough
(09-04-2011, 07:27 AM)Lauli Wrote: Why does the coliseum have no "borders" on its sides, like the normal VS background?
because the recording does not capture the whole window
(09-04-2011, 07:27 AM)Lauli Wrote: Will you add more of these background-connections? (Like the broken highway in the forrest, for example)
whenever i can

i have already tried and failed many times
i will try again but the first release might have to go without them

screw you :p 6/6
it was too easy - and it wont be getting any harder in the future with all those chars already gone - will have to think of something else
what do you want to see?

I know, it's probably better to have the road with the stripes. Just the way that they are shown in the gif bugs me, it looks as if the whole road itself would be leaning to the sides.
you can't see the right and left border of the perspective roads in this gif - maybe it's better once you see the whole screen
edit: now i get what you mean - it's not skewed
for the sake of leaving you a broader set of choices for now the guessing game continues
lauli has guessed all bosses and characters of stage 1 right
now it's time to guess which boss appears on what sub stage
and which minion helps out which boss
that's another 6 guesses to get right or wrong
new list of future features you can pick if you guess the most right: john JA action
john amulet power part 2
deep combo 3
deep combo 4
davis dragon punch kick
rudolf combo

2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

Haha, that guessing game wasn't what you wanted it to be, right? ;)
I like how Freeze can escape the ice. I guess possible inputs are D and J, just like with Firen?
Well I wonder how you choose boss & minion for the stages. I kinda understand the stage 1, as it mostly features "urban" characters in a city-like environment. But stage 2... deep on the highway with knights?
No wait... you never confirmed that. Uh.

you are right - when i adjusted this years ago i did the whole thing without hitting an opponent and thus skipped the end of the spin to animate the whole kick before touching the ground
but if hitting an opponent davis does have more air time so i just reincluded the turning animation - much better

yeah ):
can't go on with that anyway
worked better on the first round

i had to consider all good backgrounds available to me,
every lf2 character because everyone gets a different background/setting
and the fact that the player is supposed to kind of travel through this world
also these bosses aren't fixed to these places - they might be on the way through just like the player
next up: rudolf throw slice or stage 2 trees

Oi! Nice to see a video again! There were some pretty cool combos, I even noticed the metal-hit-metal effect.
So, is the switched shirt/pants colour on purpose? Looks good. The hair is a bit too bright though.
But I kept thinking, while watching them fight, that it would be a lot more exciting if these new moves would actually have that orange energy swing. Everything new seems so unnoticeable right now.
Okay, just some thoughts. I won't choose anything.
EDIT: Just noticed, retro Deep sounds funny. Somehow. Is it because of the yellow pants? Those look incredibly retro to me, haha.
