[MOD] L4LD (BRAAAAAAINS! XD)
#11
Alblaka Wrote:Nah it should be L4LD.
The survivors will be 5 or 6 rebuildt basic chars with different abilitys. For example Dennis will be able to construct barricades and John gets some healing moves etc..

If the survivors are different characters with different abilities, then it wouldn't be close to Left 4 Dead.
The survivors all can do the same things, only that they look different.
Or am I wrong?

And how about thinking of your own zombie types? I know, L4D is a great game, but wouldn't it be alot more "fun" if you think of your own stuff?

this mod is hard :P
but i like the effects
i dont like how you did the witch though, srsly wtf
and one of the 'tank's moves is weird and i dont think it was finished
though the boomer, hunter and smoker is some nice DCing.
i got owned on the last level of stage one, with 4 players (woot)
the normals zombies are really hard to get under control when you are getting mobbed from every angle, NICE WORK!
though in stage mode, there should be a boss zombie every wave in my opinion!
i hope you do some new sprites!
EDIT: also wanted to add, its hard because i you dont have guns lol, i cant wait for more items!

zomg my bro loves playing this game. its pretty cool :D. i had the l4d mod idea in my head too but i cbs about it.

good point azriel about the originality.

i wanna point out, how are you going to do the items? like the molotov, grenade, pills and medpack, different guns and stuff? are you gonna use ik8? or make it uhm...1 weapon is pickupable and then a special input to use the items while the gun is stil...blah blah blah....

lol anyways great ideas :D
if you want me to help, i can give it a try. just pm me. i know a couple of stuff about l4d.

sounds cool to me, waiting for a final release ;)

Just wondering if it won't get boring after a time. I recently played a mod that I made like 3-4 years ago (omg, epic crappiness) which also had loads of enemies. It was quite hard to stay entertained with repeating patterns (or, more proper, loads of the same opponents) all the time.

Furthermore, I want to point out that this isn't the original L4D-game (duh!) but an LF2-mod. Every character in LF2 has his own specialties regarding attacks. You could add some creativity and add
a) some own, self-made zombies that aren't based on the game
b) special players that you either have to unlock, rescue or whatsoever

Will the modified characters have different desings or just like the originals? (Dennis with a white jacket, as an example)
They will stay on completely basic sprites, cuz the storyline will directly add after the defeat of Julian ^^ Or something like that

Yes, in L4D there's no real difference between the chars. Only they differ by the weapons they pick up. In LF2 you cannot "choose equipment" directly, therefore you choose chars with different"equipment"/moves instead...

I will think about new Zombie types... *bing* HEhehe, i will maybe make an invisible one XD

Sry, but like i said above, i never played the game by myself. And the witch is the only Zombie i never saw in action... therefore i simply guessed what she could do... In relation to Jan's sprites THAT's the result...

Which tank move you do mean? All should be finished as far as i know...

You only played the first 2 stages and they are only alanced for basic chars. In higher stages and after the rebalancing for the new chars there will be way more Zombie-Phases and surely more bosses

Said above...
The chars will have different moves, replacing items. Guns are replaced by LF2-typical energy balls (with different values, of course)

You know L4d. K, please tell me what witches do if you point a light at them XD

I thought about including some stages where you find a small survivor outpost > Special chars, basic chars and barricades

I can't actually see anything like this work tbqh, imo the main appeal of Left4Dead is the atmosphere along with the co-op. The environment in the game is really really important and I imagine it's pretty difficult/impossible to allow for enterable houses for example. Stuff like a thick layer of trees seems to work though, iirc somebody used something along those lines before. It just seems impossible to supply an as-awesome atmosphere to a 2d game where you can pretty much see all the zombies already anyways and not just barely realise there's a boomer around the corner because you see his belly peeking out over a corner.

Also the smoker is called smoker because he literally smokes up the place after he dies.

On another note, please do add a lot of decoration/threat to the stages, imo it's pretty awesome when you accidentally damage a car and end up getting loads of zombies heading at you from all sides due to the alarm. I don't really like the stage so far at all actually because it's just wave after wave of zombies and there's little variety at all \:

Do keep it up though!

That's pretty lame, some fairly basic recoloring isn't that hard or time-consuming to do, when it comes to guns you could probably also go use those weapon skins lok and ronaldex made instead of simply completely scrapping the idea of atmosphere/relation to the game

You know that i'm a terrible spriter?
I cannot do any good sprites for my own. Atm XLittlebobX offered to draw a Zombie spritesheet ^^ That would be a beginning...
If you want i can draw a cubic graveyard, but it would look sucky, believe me XD

you can alert the witch if you shine your torch. having your torch on in dark areas can alert zombies close by and they will attack you. the witch can be nasty so yeah...they just run up to you and you could be down no matter how much hp u already have lol. yeah just crown the damn thing is best.
still havent had time to test out the mod yet but sure will try
