Comparing LFE to Youtube is a little too much. It is unrealistic to believe admins on Youtube could control billions of members, meanwhile it is perfectly reasonable to expect authorities on LFE to handle those 40 active members.

Yeah, I know. Still, it's notable issue there with like every second (okay, maybe third) active ytber. I believe they just do not care as they find it pointless to bother - it's harmless. Just like reputation here. You have your own point of view and just because some are over9000repped doesn't mean you can't distinguish their undeservance of it. Or am I missing something?

If you are not propably one of those super mentally retarded people who likes to be told what to do then you are going to have your own view. What makes us unique is also this. We have our own vision and rights here. And if you believe in your ways till the end no one can accuse you of hypocracy. If i take your example in hand many people are getting on the bandwagon just because someone else did. If you don't have a reason to rep someone don't rep them. Don't follow the bandwagon. We all have our own perspective and it'll keep going till our life end. We should stick to our own belief and distinguish from what's right or wrong. Fascination,attraction is a state of mind which cloud judgement. Eg: some people will follow popular ones and still stick to them even when they are wrong. If it seems they are sticking to their belief they are actually clouding their judgement. So you don't need to rep a guy even with more than 10000000reps untill they prove it to you. Unless you are the one of a kind i mentioned earlier.

That is the most wrong thing you can do. If you do smthing stupid, and others give you negative rating for it, are they the stupid ones now? Have they done smthing stupid? I think they haven't, so giving - reputation for others really isn't an good idea if you are the one doing dumb stuff.
And for the reputation system:
I think it really isn't needed, like someone already said, it's just number under your avatar? I think we can respect BP, MH-Razen, Apoc, YinYin, Sieg and even Betit and many others even if they didn't have those +20 green numbers. Being smart at the forums already tells who is good/smart and who is not, we don't need numbers for it D:
For the thank system:
Thank system must not be removed cuz it decreases a lot those spam posts that only say smthing like ''agree''/''thanks''/''lol''/''nice'' etc. It also helps to find useful (and also funny) posts among the others.
But some users really should think before pressing the thanks button, i find it irritating to always see thanks: Electric shock, Sonic Boom and same guys at every single post >__> You can thank one post where you agree ''i agree with this guy'', but if someone else also says the same thing, you don't have to also thank him D:

The thing is, you have your own opinion on the reputation system, but not all people feel the same.
Apparently, for the thread starter (and lots of other people) rep is as important as their postcount/name/avatar/sex.

YinYin's idea of thumbing up/down seems good enough, and will probably prevent people from giving unreasonable reps, since the community here would have an influence on how a person rates another.
