Black Borders Surrounding Characters & Items
#1
Hi everyone,

It's my first ever time posting in this forum. Please feel free to let me know if I did anything wrong.

Recently, I got a brand new laptop, so I decided to download LF2. However, when I started playing, I noticed that there were black borders around my character, my opponent's character and items. When I reopened LF2, I noticed that the same black borders are in my menu as well.

I have already tried reinstalling LF2 several times, as well as downloading both the 2005 and 2013 versions of vcredist_x64 as my laptop is 64-bit instead of 32-bit. All these efforts are futile as I'm still facing the same issue.

Please let me know how I can fix this. I have attached photos for everyone to reference. Thank you in advance for taking the time to help!

See this thread, the latest post with the configured ddraw from TheScar:

Someone came to the Discord to ask the same thing, maybe Scar's version of the wrapper might help.

EDIT:
Update from TheScar:
Quote:either add
ForceDirectDrawEmulation = 1 to my wrapper config
or use wineD3D wrapper

This problem appears to occur in devices with Windows 11 pre-installed (at least).

`vcredist_x86` should be installed regardless of the OS architecture being 32-bit or 64-bit, because LF2 was originally compiled for 32-bit architectures, therefore using 32-bit addresses.

The download links in @STM1993's thread are no longer valid.
(Taking direct links from discord is not a good idea)

The solution for me was:
1. Download and extract the files from the attached .zip file to the LF2 directory (e.g. `C:\Program Files (x86)\LittleFighter`)
2. Edit the `aqrit.cfg` file to switch the value of the variable `ForceDirectDrawEmulation` from 0 to 1.
3. Play the game and see the problem is fixed.

PS: I suggest changing the thread title to something along the lines: "Windows 11 Graphics - Transparent rendered with black color"
