Ah, well, your choice. Have you even played Final Fantasy IV? (or II in America i think.) Cuz the two chars you have sprited is NOT the same.
Now, for that Kain sprite. It's good. Try to make the back of his helm a bit more helm-like. Now it's just sort of black.
The stomach part seems kinda unreal, try to blur and shade it.

Oh, and in case you haven't played FF4, PM me and i'll send you a list of his skills.

it looks good but the hat or hood above the head i don't know what is that thing but it covers the face too much.

but what do u mean with "more helmet-like" well i know that u mean the helmet () but i dont know what more helmet-like is in ur opinion.
and well its not very easy to blur and shade something on his stomach because of this millions of details (ok maybe not millions but very many ) but i will try to make it better

well, what i meant is that it seems like the back of his helm is a non-reflective black...but maybe that's just me.
Oh, and about details and shading, you can always cut down on the details.
