help needed to install new char

Count your lines in data.txt, or, more specific, the amount of objects loaded.

Count every line starting with "id: ", located between

[plankton]

try posting the folder of sprites and datas in the lf2 folder where it show all other folder like bg data and sprite you have to do that for some characters like dome's kai i think

well, i counted the lines and i have around 81 lines and were can i find this folder you speak of plankton?

I guess he means the following:
Go to your lf2-directory. Then, you'll find the following items:
- lf2.exe
- bg\
- data\
- sprite\

anyways, I just checked the download, and now I know what you're supposed to do...
Take all the sound- aka. wav-files and put them in yourLF2directory\data\
Now create a folder in yourLF2directory\sprite\, called Luke.
Select all the bmp- and dat-files and copy them to yourLF2directory\sprite\Luke\
Add the two line to data.txt, and that's it

cool! it worked but it won't work for obi wan. What now?

according to the readme you have to put these two lines into data.txt:

id:  29  type: 0  file: sprite\obi_wan\obi_wan.dat
id: 360  type: 3  file: sprite\obi_wan\luke_ball.dat

Now, copy all the soundfiles from your download into the data-folder. Go now into the sprite-folder, and copy the whole obi_wan-folder into it (you should have 3 folders: sys, template1, and obi_wan (plus any other characters but these are optional)).
Now it should work otherwise, post the error-message
