(This post was last modified: 05-14-2009, 03:57 AM by Siegvar.)
looks like there's quite a bit of confusion going around here.
Lemme try tabulate a bit of info(those that I rmb)
Blaze is a character that was planned as part of the EC mod.
The team that worked on EC at some point or another includes:
Ricky
Kaixa
LokLok
Siegvar/Havoc(me!)
And one more guy whose nick I've forgotten. (The guy that sprited Francis, the character with Henry's head, but with new body armor and sword if I rmb correctly.)
What you see here is the 2nd version of Blaze.
- BlazeV1 was a concept by Kaixa/Myaku, had the same hairstyle you see now but had a body more like Tiger but red and with a lighter red cape
(I actually based Tiger's body shape on that Blaze, just without the cape)
- BlazeV2 is what you see now, a redesign done after Walter was completed. (This totally kicked butt, and blew my mind way out when I first saw it.) However there was only standing, walking, and half a BlazePunch set of frames.
- Sometime later, when Me and Ricky kind of really died down in terms of activity, TinoX tried completing BlazeV2's sheet.
He completed it, and approached Kaixa about helping out with EC.
Due to various circumstances, his help was not accepted.
- But anyway, later on, me and ricky eventually had an inactive period of more than a year, and Kaixa is seemingly left with the gargantuan task of keeping the EC project going on his own.
NOW:
Here you see Kaixa/Myaku, triumphant in his return. He didn't start out as a spriter, but it seems he's decided that he'll do it if he has to, even if he's not used to it, and I think his determination, if nothing else, is incredible.
Anyway, tiny note on me:
I'm not back, not really anyway. We'll see how it goes. Maybe if I get bored enough I'll come prowl around abit. haha.
"I may devour the five continents, and swallow the three seas, but a body with neither wings, nor hands, nor feet, is powerless against the sky."
My stuff:
| sprites | frozen |
1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.
