Same for me.. I found easier to draw them when i take really really slow approach, first i study what kind of lines makes the eyes (observing details) then i draw them with very light lines, then i add thicker and thicker layers if i find them correctly drawn. For me, patience is key.

I see you tried it from Mark Crilley's latest video XD I watched it too today.
Anyway good job man! Definitely feeling the shading on the hair! Though that hair strand looks awfully straight.
