If his NFT is particular successful, he may consider making a web version, free and no need to download to play. It's going to be open source, he mentioned on Facebook. What more do we know?
Edit after STM: From Facebook... Ted Wong: "Open source" Marti Wong: "Ted Wong 應該唔會open source" So I mistranslated the Chinese text. Thanks STM

Maybe there will be an actual online mode in place of network mode. I'd be very keen then for a tournament!

Oh wow. On first glance I was baited into thinking this was a delayed April Fools', or rather that I missed it the past couple days.
So if this really happens, that's gonna be really interesting... I wonder though whether he will recode the game from the ground up, which might make it a different game than we know it altogether. I hope the changes won't be too drastic. Quote of the Day f***ing Year (Click to View)

I wouldn't like a new LFO or something. I hope the game mechanics will be mostly the same as LF2. Especially during laggy online battles in LF2, I was often impressed by the precision which you had to play with to win against the best players. Thanks given by: A-Man

It's a good news.
Actually, thanks to the popularization of 3D modual software, currently it could be quite easy to built up a personal character. I will be very happy to see if the remastered version can keep the feature which allows us to introduce new characters, skills, maps and even stages.
The Davis frames shown up there seem to be one-to-one with the classic LF2's. I wonder if this means we can't expect slightly improved animations.
Can the artists/spriters comment on how these images were drawn? Does it seem like a skeletal animation, or that the different frames were more or less completely redrawn? Personally, I'm open minded for many kinds of changes. A-Engine: A new beat em up game engine inspired by LF2. Coming soon A-Engine Dev Blog - Update #8: Timeout | ||
