Be careful with the values. The contrast among the different body-parts is fairly low. You can see it best when converting the image to grayscale:
What I'm trying to say is this: the crossing of the heads is confusing and, since the values are fairly equal in those areas, making it hard to identify the "structure" at first glance. Might also help to add some "global details" (for the lack of a better word) where you just roughly outlay the shadow/highlight-parts. This way, the sprite should really pop.
