Anyway, try to pay attention to the pose and proportions:
1. His legs are quite short compared to the rest of his body.
2. The positioning of the arms. Right now his left arm is straightened and tucked close to the body and lowered quite a bit compared to his right arm. I'm not sure what he's doing but that's not a comfortable nor natural posture to leave the arms in.
It looks like he's trying to reach down and scratch his knee or crotch, or trying to pull his pants up.
When doing sprites without base, it is also a good opportunity to draw poses other than just standing with the arms to the side in a neutral fashion.
Try drawing a dynamic stance and give it some personality. An on guard stance with his arms raised in front of him may be nice... as if he's preparing to use his knives to strike.
