hm... you know that siegvar wanted to make a char from that drawing? And that the creator Steam called the guy in that drawing frozen? maybe not a good idea to change it.
Anyway, to the sprite. Well, lets put it like that. I can imagine the way you see the sprite very good and of course your spriting skills are just awesome. However, I see that drawing in a different way. With those light "ice-spikey"-hair and the slim face I have a more white or grey skin colour in my head. Not as strong as freeze, but still into that direction. I see a similar kind of personality in him, too, but for me its more connected to the element of wind than of fire( going hand in hand with the skin-colour), while those cape and boots remind me of freeze.( ice). One the other hand you could of course say that the dark outlines of the face give him an expression that fits better to fire. Well, all of it is subjective and I guess in the end its your choice.
I can't see that yellow/orange thing in the drawing though. But I guess thats artistic freedom.
So I guess thats all I wanted to say. Just one thing: don't make him smaller/fat for the sake of LF2-style. The drawing is quite slim and that also fits to his character. Otherwise he would be too much like freeze.
But great work. Well, what else was I expecting?
Btw: Gonna be hard to give him fire like attacks I guess. I would also prefer wind, but as I said...
