Suddenly, a bright flash from the sky blinds the heroes. SirFrog shields his eyes with his right arm. As he slowly peeks over it, a strange star, glowing red and white, slowly descends to the earth, not many steps from where the group is resting. Sceptically, he gets up on his feet as the sky turns white and snowflakes start floating to the ground.
SirFrog: Wow... did you see that? Drahcir: A redundant question. As the star reaches the ground, a corpulent human silhouette can be made out in its center. SirFrog approaches the figure who still isn't clearly visible due to the light that he emanates. A deep voice reaches his ears, and it feels as though it also reached his heart. ???: Ho ho ho... SirFrog: Excuse me? The light slowly fades. The figure is revealed to be a very old man with a white full beard and a strange red cap with a white fluffy ball dangling from its top. He is clothed in red and white garment, carrying a brimming sack over his shoulder. Bamboori: Santa Claus?! Welcome! snorsorbet: It's Santa!!! Bamboori and snorsorbet storm towards the stranger and almost throw him off his feet as they hug him. SirFrog: Just a second there... what is going on? Santa Claus: Ho ho ho... Merry Christmas! I have brought you some presents. Bamboori: Yay, Santa! Is there anything for me? SirFrog: Don't you think you're a little too old for presents? Santa Claus: Hohoho. I see there is a disbeliever. Why don't you come and sit on my lap? I will tell you a nice story. SirFrog: ...no thanks, I guess. SirFrog buries his head into his hands, as he can absolutely not grasp the events that are currently happening in front of him. Why, of all the things... As he looks over to Santa again, he sees the whole party sitting in a circle around Santa Claus, who seems to be vividly telling a story. Steiner is getting tears in his eyes, Nave is snuggling with an oversized teddy bear and Simon is constantly tilting his head left and right to the rhythm of the Santa's words. Santa Claus: Now listen carefully. I have an important task for you. Bamboori: We'll do anything for you, Santa! Santa Claus: That's a good boy! Now, there's this very, very bad monster named Natas living below the earth. He feeds on anger, sadness and lies. Every time somebody is angry, sad or tells a lie, Natas will grow. He will grow big and strong, and one day, when enough people have hurt each other, he will come through the ground and eat you up alive. snorsorbet: Oh no, that's terrible!! Santa Claus shakes his head melancholically. Santa Claus: I've seen it with my own eyes. It was really terrible. This must never happen again. Therefore, you must never be angry, sad or lie to other people. Otherwise, Natas will come again. Ian: I'll be a good boy, I promise! Blue Phoenix: Me too! Steiner: And me! I will never be angry, sad or tell lies again! A smile enters the Santa's face. Santa Claus: And now, what you have all been waiting for... He reaches into his sack and pulls out a large present. The others cheer. Santa distributes a few packages in various sizes. Bamboori receives the Blizzard Bow! Nave receives the Winter Jerkin! Simon receives the Nonstop Nunchucks! Drahcir receives the Snowstorm Shield! Phil receives the Candy Collar! SirFrog receives... nothing? It's a blur. He cannot make out what is in his box. His head becomes dizzy. Bamboori: Froggy! What's in the box? What's in the f****** box?! snorsorbet: Come on, tell us, tell us! SirFrog: Uhh... Drahcir: What's happening? Alexis, are you ok? SirFrog: Alexis... SirFrog falls. He starts seeing flashing colors and spiralling patterns. Nave: Damn it, we need to get a doctor! Quick! Simon: Dick, you go! Hurry! Feverish dreams enter his mind. He is getting lost in a vertigo of distorted pictures, intensive smells and acoustical impulses within his head. The voices he hears from above him sound distant, like an echo from a non-existant parallel universe... ??? (1): ... *incomprehensible* ...but he's my son... *-+,,* A sharp sting enters his left forearm. He is convulsed with pain. ??? (2): ... *..* ... a child of the devil, hang him, hang the monstrosity- ... --- A feeling of enervation grasps his body and he is ready to let it all go. The guilt, the spasm, the gloating, it's coming down now. A phantasm possessing his body, now ready to give up. ??? (3): ...- ** ... don't you dare touch my son... * ??? (4): *chant* Hang him! Cut him! Burn him! Drown him! Hang him! Cut him! Burn him! Drown him! ...**- ??? (5): ..*-- ... r-run! Run where the wind will take you- **... ??? (6): *#+--* ... prepare the exorcism-- **+* ??? (7): -- and never look back --* ??? (8): ..+ your blood will stain the soil of these lands forever--** ??? (9): I love you. ... ... ... ??? (10): He's out cold. ??? (11): Just let him rest. He'll be ok. A soothing sensation overcomes his limbs, and a fresh, cool autumn breeze caresses his forehead, gently erasing his anguish. Slowly, SirFrog dares to open his eyes, feeling nothing at all. He sees the blue skies. SirFrog: Huh. Drahcir: Told you so. Ian: Sure. SirFrog: What... happened? Where am I? Drahcir: We didn't go anywhere. You simply passed out for a while after we sat down to rest. Ian: It must have been that batch of Thinespark flowers you sat into, they're a little poisonous and creep through the skin. SirFrog: ...where is Santa Claus? Drahcir and Ian stare at SirFrog, puzzled at first but then let out a herb laugh together. Drahcir: Have you been dreaming? There is no such thing as Santa Claus. SirFrog: And when did you two become such good friends? Ian lets out another sharp laugh, then gets up and walks away with a smirk on his face. SirFrog sits up and notices the other group members exchanging stories and theories, just a few steps aside. SirFrog: Alexis... Drahcir: Hm? SirFrog: You called me Alexis again, but in my dream. Drahcir: What have you dreamed? SirFrog considers going into detail for a while, but then shakes his head. SirFrog: I don't want to think about it, it hurts. Drahcir gives SirFrog a pat on the back. Drahcir: Well, I hope you're feeling all fine now, I think we're pretty much ready to get on with our trip. SirFrog gets onto his feet. He briefly stumbles, but manages to keep balance. SirFrog: Yes. Let's go. |--4---3---2---1--| |--1---2---3---4--| a Ian Nav Blu Dra : : --- --- --- --- a b Bam Sir Sim sno : : --- --- --- --- b c --- --- Phi Ste : : --- --- --- --- c |-----------------| |-----------------| Stats (Click to View) Book of Knowledge World Map (Hints of Interest: - Stat points left: Phil Skill points left: Phil, Simon, Steiner) It's dawn. I'm confused.
SirFrog: What. The. Hell. Either I'm going insane, or someone's having a laugh at my expense. Or both. I have a theory, but that's just a hunch from me as a player and some putting together clues, so I'll vent it when I get some more info.

The group sets off into the approximate south direction. They wander for a long time without any peculiar incident, crossing fields of poppies, tiny streams and even a squirrel family. And finally, they reach the main road.
Bamboori: We did it! Nave: Now hold it just one second. We only reached the road. I don't see a village nearby. Blue Phoenix: Which brings up the obvious question... did we deviate too far to the west or east? snorsorbet: Technically, it won't matter, our main goal is the desert anyway. We weren't planning to specifically visit Glennsville... Bamboori: But my feet... *pulls a long face* Simon: Plus I'm getting really hungry. Would be nice to get to a tavern somewhere... |--4---3---2---1--| |--1---2---3---4--| a Ian Nav Blu Dra : : --- --- --- --- a b Bam Sir Sim sno : : --- --- --- --- b c --- --- Phi Ste : : --- --- --- --- c |-----------------| |-----------------| Stats (Click to View) Book of Knowledge World Map (Hints of Interest: - Stat points left: Phil Skill points left: Phil, Simon, Steiner) It's dawn. Drahcir: let's go west for a bit. If we don't reach Glennsville soon we can turn around.

Wait, why West? Isn't West the direction of Laneesh?

Agreed, East should bring us to a better area.
