Even tho aesthetically i prefer first one the most, i would go with 3rd as my favorite because other two differs from original look too much. Maybe skin color from first plus 3rd one.
About proportion, there is nothing much to say, i adore it, it's perfect, KEEP IT!!! Perfect combination of realistic and cartonish... only thing in my mind right now is that i always imagined his pants buggier (?more buggy?). It's porbably just my imagination 'cuze lf2 has chibby style by default.
There is nothing much to say. I am looking forward to potentially see Dennis and Woody in this style!?

Ohh, well, Imagined it more like martial artist pants but hey, it can be redone or even made as a alternative outfit of him with having my pants version and only bandages!

We can always go with alternatives
I always imagined Woody to be some kind of Army guy. A less smaller and stronger build.

Supposing you're using a layer-based graphics program, it'd be possible to overlay the jacket on the non-jacket sprite itself in the game, so what you can do is do Davis without his jacket, and then sprite over the jacket as a separate layer. This way, we can get 2 different outfits for Davis with minimal effort from your side.
Very nice Woody XD. Being an army guy fits him really well. One minor thing would be the bump in the shoulder area in the without-jacket Woody version. Otherwise, it's on spot. Keep this up!
Edit: @v: What can I say, these are awesome. Good job with the facial details especially.

these kind of sprites are definitely not easy to do, although after seeing your stuff i had to try for my self.
of course mine are crap compared to yours as its really not my style but it was fun i wont deny that
anyways, didn't mean to crash your thread like this but your stuff inspired me to try a new style and i did.
keep it up and hoping to see more

I would love to see game like this, huge + from me !!!
maybe you could do small animation (simple breathing) to see how it would work in the game and how many frames would be fine?
(not the biggest fan of Bandit's 3 frames punch)

With small animations it will go later when it will come to real stances. Frames are not the problem, since I heard that A-engine can have more frames for each state than LF2, it can vary for each characters.

Hey, If you're planning to try them all and have no personal preferences about whom you should try next, I would love to see Julian.
@Housemate: Very nice attempt XP. How about you try spriting Leo? I surely find his concept unique and very fitting for Little Figher if coded properly.
