Was thinking about that it's not a bad idea however it's useless if they don't have matching names and at the moment it's difficult to determine where lf2 may be running from as people can have mods in different folders (and I don't think lf2 loads the controls.txt again after starting a Network game) so I wouldn't be able to change it then hopefully I can just edit in memory but we'll see how it goes

as for the bug I can't afford to spend any more time trying to track it I want to move on with my updates however I'll be retuning and optimizing the server and client as I go along which should help in fixing the data issue sorry for the inconvenience

well changing it in memory would be great because you would keep your offline controls and names unchanged no matter what position you were in

and if your account name doesnt match with one of your control setting names then the control settings wont be moved - whats the problem with that? i mean right now you have to manually set the controls of your position - or might just have the same controls for all 4 players - but if you can have it moved automatically why shouldn you use your account name then (either that or the feature doesn work and you have to keep doing it manually - should be fair)

its a good idea but the amount of work required to implement it would probably require a far more complicated system
as for the whole memory changing thing will have to talk to silva about that as hes far superior to reverse engineering then me :P
I think the best solution for now is to have all chars the same and just change the attack button to something else when you want to play a normal game with someone

Me and silva have gone through many possibilities for automatic naming/positioning etc and yeah still working on it the results from it actually spawn off into other areas in things we could do (i use to have a system where it would do the automatic names/positions however the camera would free float so yeah were trying to see what we can get from it) can't wait till he comes back ^_^
I'm planning to shut the server down this weekend for updates during the following times

10:00:00 a.m. Friday October 9, 2009 in Europe/London To
12:00:00 Noon Sunday October 11, 2009 in Europe/London

feel free to try and join the server during this time however stability can not be delivered as i plan to reset the server several times over the weekend
chances are if you are in the server and in an active game with at least two players then i'll try and refrain from resetting (no guarantees though) however if you are just idling in the application and i need to reset i'll just go ahead and do it

Well he never beta tested it, and the lobby is malfunctioning (for me and snor at least).

It works up to when you connect the game, then some dialogue boxes with strange symbols pop up, but LF2 loads normally until "waiting for opponent", when "Connection Lost!" happens.

So much for this. :(

0.1.4 is too buggy right now to play with it. When Chiko and I tested it (VS), there were pretty big issues arising. First: we had different backgrounds, second: the random function gave us different characters (on my comp we were davis & dennis, on chiko's davis & firen). Also, it was totally desynched.

yeah sorry hyuuga can only run one version at a time or there will be compatability issues amongst each player everyone has to use the same version

sorry for the slow update progress havn't had much time to work on this (its late by the time i get home) slowly working on getting 0.1.4 up to scratch and theres some really cool features planned you'll all be notified when an update is available (when you run the lobby it should let you know)
