For making a LF3 you'd need a lot of money to:
- Buy LF rights from U1;
- Have a team of excellent programmers, spriters and people who can create 3D models.
This discussion is pointless and hurts my feelings.

you can't finish a mod let alone an entire new game.

Fan game or not, I can already imagine the authors of said game getting sued. But it wouldn't even come to that. You have no idea how much time and work it takes for creating a game, especially a 3D one. No one here, no matter how much they want it, has time for working on something like this. The only way someone would work on a project like this, without abandoning it asap due to real life problems, would be to get paid and get recognition for their work. Otherwise, not going to happen. You need the 2 things I mentioned above for such project to be successful.

Yet motivation and inspiration can do it, f*** that legal sh*t, conter-strike was a mod, and it became more famous that half-life it self.

You think U1 would actually get down and sue us for a fan game? Not that it would stop me, it's still possible to change designs at such an early state of the project. Either way, I am still going to work on this till my heart's content. It just sucks I am not a very good spriter :\, which is what I'd need help with.

I wanned to ask.
Azriel making hero quest game, was there very much negative opinions on that one?
What up with you people?
When someone attempts to make fan lf2 sprite, all I can see is "I want to see him as a char".
When someone attemps to make a fan lf2 game , all I can see is "NOPE, YOU WONT MAKE IT!"

- Hero Quest intellectual property belongs to Azriel afaik;
- Hero Quest started long time ago and is far from finished afaik;
- Azriel gets benefits from making this game, as he can call it his own game and get recognition from it;
- Little Fighter intellectual property belongs to U1;
- LF2 game, sprites, etc belong to Marti Wong & Starsky Wong.
- LF2 is modifiable, so making characters is totally fine.
Making a LF3, completely new game, without owning the Little Fighter ip is illegal. You are using someone else's concepts, it's stealing. It does not matter if you see the game as fan made or not. If U1 so desires, whoever was involved in the project will get sued. But don't worry, soon after you start the project you'll realize that the progress is uber slow and that you were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay above yourself.

The only problem with this LF3 thing you have is the "sue" thing.
I can make a fan game but if I release it, I might get sue but what if I take no profit?
Why not to ask for a permission to make a non profit fan game?
And if ain't getting a permission. We can always alter some names, and design elements but make it feel like LF3.
Is the only reason you have against this is "sue"?
