Yeah, the streaks of the hair might be a bit thick
Colours are definitely stronger than in your other sprites and I quite like it, but the colour of his trousers... nah (personal opinion,skip-worthy)
Shading is - concerning the contrast - very, very good. However, his jacket lacks texture. It doesn't have to be much (always depending on the material. But whom am I telling this?), but in my opinion the right arm looks too much like a tube.
For the facial part I agree with LC, both nose and mouth are too light. On the other hand, i don't see why you are trying to hide the eyes. They are looking perfectly fine to me.
Other than that, i can't spot any flaws. Still, something about the anatomy I can't quite put my finger on is bothering me. So I can just guess the reason: His right arm looks like we see him from the side, but the rest of the sprite doesn't really support that impression.

I seem to be going through a bit of a revamping stage so I took two extremely old sprites.
One sprite was done two years ago for YinYin's special contest. Though my sprite never went anywhere, I thought it would be fun to do a bit of a revamp for it.

The second sprite that I revamped was done four years ago under my original alias, Akatsuki. I wonder if Sieg, Apoc or Marshall will recognize this ugly original sprite...

im surprised @ ur old sprite didn't realize how 4 years can make such outstanding difference

Those things barely work as just moving the cursor around.

just a quick edit of Ragelex to make the anatomy look a bit better.
I am sorry to say, but the touchpad thing is completely true. Lol... I have been using it for the past few years, so I've grown quite accustomed to using it instead of a mouse. I actually just started using a mouse this summer for work related things, so it is a bit interesting to say the least.

Whoo! I rmb that sprite. The new one looks even better. I really liked the concept of that particular sprite. I even rmb trying to tell you to do a full sheet on it, I thought it'd help you quickly learn how to use finer brushes and get used to details and odd postures. Anyway, I think it was done for another of Yinyin's contest as well? his flying character contest I believe. I entered Aeros(Can't rmb the damned name) or something for it.
So, how about doing that now? 40 frames isn't alot. It was actually quite fun to be able to finish a character with that little frames.
Anyway I really like the hair on the first one.
@BP - edit:
Ah. right. Aeron.
I'm really out of it... if I'm beginning to forget the names to my own characters.

Aeron? |
"I may devour the five continents, and swallow the three seas, but a body with neither wings, nor hands, nor feet, is powerless against the sky."
My stuff:
| sprites | frozen |
1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.
