I finally got my tablet and my photoshop working on my new computer, so hopefully, i can get back to work comfortably .gif)
This sprite is the first sprite on my new computer. I was just test trailing things. I hope i got the proportions a little better this time though. (his arms are a little big i think)
Critique welcome

Indeed, you got a bit away from the typical Alectric-proportions. Yet, it's still a little bit messed up, proportion-wisely. Allow me to demonstrate this:
As you can see, the arm-thickness is perfectly fine. So are the size of the legs. Yet, the torso is still a tad too large -- and by that, the head appears smaller than desired because you squish it into the remaining space.
So, my tip would be to open a sprite of character X in PS, create a new file, set both zoom-levels at the same size, and align the two right next to each other. That way, it will be much easier to not mess up the proportions too severely.

Eh, I suppose that's true, but only if Alec was trying to follow LF2's proportions.
But as far as human proportions go, his sprite is fine, just... a little more neck would've been nice.

My stuff:

1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

Alright, just for my own amusement, i tried to sprite with only my mouse this time:
![[Image: spritesz.png]](http://img651.imageshack.us/img651/8918/spritesz.png)
My wrist is kinda sore, and it took quite a while, but im kinda pleased with the result.
Ill draw the same sprite with my tablet later and help you people make a comparison between mouse vs tablet.

http://www.mythicalcreaturesguide.com/page/Slender+Man Hey, I was wondering if you can make something scary like the Slenderman (Images in link provided.) I would bow down to you FOREVER if you made him.

Prince_freeza and i were having our sprite session, and we decided we wanted to do a char with a fro. (guy on the right)
Im not happy with my sprite, i've done quite a lot of things that i spent ages practicing not to do :P I must be rusty.
The purple guy is a concept sprite that was for the hunter sprite theme. (guy on left)
at least (i think) the guy on the right has better proportions than my usual sprites, but i cant shake giving them 'fat' heads.
Please critique

The purple guy has a strange proportions, because well, the legs look a bit too short, or is it just me.
The guy on the right is perfect in proportions, and great shading. No more comment.

You said it, he has, indeed, better proportions that your usual sprites. Although the fro is not really visible and requires more curly than straight brush strokes (maybe longer strokes as well?).
The caped guy looks really interesting, very capturing pose. Nice work!
