V) oh psh...it's not jus' that! no offence...
hardly, I see you're paying a little more attention to proportions now... if you're gonna try to improve certain aspects of your sprites you used to ignore, you'll obviously haev a little difficulty at first and come up with slightly worse off sprites.
Though imo, Rebel's pretty damned awesome, more so than your last few, on account of the better proportional balance alone.

My stuff:

1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

i already know a hell of my work is incomplete...often i don't go back, not only because of my inactive ability to motivate myself...
but i have a problem replicating the same work so diligently from the one before
most of you have noticed i take waaaaayy too much time on one thing...and it still looks as though it's been substandard
what im asking is some small advice on improving my speed while maintaining that detail and accuracy...
cuz i roughly take like a whole 1-2 hours while you guys manage to out do yourself in 10-20 min

for the sprite, yea everything after frame #1 get blurry and pretty noticeable. breathing looks nice but you might wanna animate the shoulders a bit so he doesnt looks stiff. mainly nice job with the tablet cuz its so hard in the beginning but i can see ur adjusting pretty quickly

If you want to have such detailed breathing animations, you're gonna have to either change your spriting method to sprite stances or accept the blurring. Only spriters who use higher resolution and then resize can do such small movements without making it look blurry after the first sprite (Marti, for example). Mmm... maybe it's not impossible to make it at normal resolution changing pixel-by-pixel, I tried before and it didn't look so bad, but it's definitly not worth the time.
Great amount of details btw. The feet give the feeling that he is not stading on a flat, horizontal surface, though.
V It's not the same. If you're talking about Photoshop's automatic sharpening, after applying it the sprites gets a bit lighter, specially on edges. If you're talking about sharpening it manually, it's what I was talking about before.
