If people don't post criticism then the spriting forum would just become a place where people post art to get their ego stroked by drooling idiots which think that anything created by anyone remotely respected by the 'community' is absolutely perfect.

If you don't like reading criticism then you can close your eyes when ever a post in a thread is more than 1 line long and doesn't say "wow great job".

Ontopic: wow great job :D. The shading style is pretty cool, it's nice that you manage to maintain it throughout all your sprites. Nothings irks me more than when different styles are mixed together, it ruins the whole feel of a game for me.

While I agree with Silva on the matter of the importance of critisism, however, I believe the flaw Monolith so kindly pointed out was not of major importance, at least not for me. (Note that I am not a die-hard DBZ fan and don't really care from where his hair grows).

So in your opinion monolith shouldn't of pointed out this flaw? He even took the time to illustrate how it should be. That already makes the post 90% better than most of the generic criticism on the board, stuff like:
Quote:perspective and proportions look strange

I'm sure HQ is capable of deciding if he thinks its significant or not. There is no need for this white-knight bullsh*t. His post is legit, I think you are all just upset that he points out the flaws in your sprites instead of confirming to the "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG AMAZING I LOVE YOU!!!!$#@$@" mentality which is so prevalent here. Grow up.

He presented his case correctly, I give him that. But still, complaining about the hair being 1px to the right than it should have been (in his own opinion) is something like grammar nazism, just with sprites. It's a minor detail nobody cares about.

And why should we complain about a sprite that is good?
OK, it happens a lot that people overlook the obvious flaws just because the person who made the sprite is a "respected member", moderator or some other big shot on internet. But that's not always the case. Sometimes the sprite is just good as it is.

Just as silva said, I am capable of deciding if something is significant or not. I will try to evaluate your critics, and will think about it.

I'd like to encourage you all to give me hard constructive critics. (Monolith's critic was valid and he even took the time to point it out with the pictures - and in fact I am glad that this small "failure" (*) is the only thing that u guys thought that can still be improved)

(*)(as there are several images on the internet were he has a similar hair to the one i have drawn, but meeeh I don't really care that much about it now)

Although I really do appreciate all the comments like "great sprites" "good work" & thanks received for my sprites, I honestly have to tell you guys, that I always try to improve, and as I sometimes can't or won't see things I can improve on a sprite, I post it - with the intention to get some critic on it that helps me to improve as an "artist".

The following quotes have been rephrased for ease of understanding.

"Sprite is good enough"
Divisor, that is your opinion.

"Sprite is not good enough, here's why..."
That was monolith's opinion.

OPINIONS GODDAMNIT! OPINIONS! at this stage.. everyone was still doing fine..

now... what happened next?

"You're a hater"
Betit attacking monolith as a person. Not commenting on sprite.
"You don't like it? go make it yourself"
Betit denying monolith's right to contribute to critique... suggesting its better for monolith to shut the f*ck up than give critique...
which... in effect... is DENYING SHELDEE's RIGHT TO RECEIVE CRITIQUE.

and

"is something like grammar nazism, just with sprites. It's a minor detail nobody cares about."
Divisor basically saying "Sheldee doesn't need to listen to crap like that coz nobody cares about it"
Again, DENYING SHELDEE's RIGHT TO RECEIVE CRITIQUE.
Also, assumes that Divisor knows what SHELDEE is thinking.

Oh... if what monolisth said was grammar nazism just with sprites... it was grammar nazism... in a forum where Sheldee wrote something in english... to receive advice on his grammar.
Its not grammar nazism if grammar nazism is expected and even asked for.

Also...

"I like super android 13.but his one eye is to big
i think you made a mistake at goku forehead hair (or whatever its called)
yours hair growed from a middle, but goku hair must not be growed from a midlle
this is how goku hair must be" -Monolith
oh... must be? really? REALLY? MUST? not should? but MUST?

Case Study End.
I'm not going to comment too much. That which I have provided above are mostly observations, and clarifications... based on what is written.

also, just for reference:

fo·rum/ˈfôrəm/Noun
1. A meeting or medium where ideas and views on a particular issue can be exchanged.

Note the keywords "ideas" "views" "exchanged"
note the lack of the following keywords "correct answer" "absolute truth"

TL;DR
If you're gonna go TL;DR.. and then reply...
you should just go fsck yourself.

And most importantly... poor Sheldee... he posts a sprite.. and instead of anything useful.. he gets a load of bull from everyone.
Why would we do such a thing to him?
"I may devour the five continents, and swallow the three seas, but a body with neither wings, nor hands, nor feet, is powerless against the sky."

My stuff:
| sprites | frozen |

Yeah, fine, I shouldn't auto assume that HQ will disregard that flaw as quickly as I did...I just based the "nobody cares" statement on the fact that no one who posted after Monolith agreed with him on the hair issue.

Not really. If somebody pointed out small grammar flaws in that story I am currently writing, I would disergard them as minor details since I'd like comments on content, not language. I assumed it's similar when spriting: people should comment on proportions, shading, color use...not really hair location.
Looks like I was wrong, so yeah.
