depends on how you feel when spriting.. some (lets say apoc) find it easy to sprite at 79x79 size and still maintain the detail quality. unlike some ppl that feel more comfortable to sprite at 200% so they can take a good look and get a good detail strokes then resize.
i noticed that since harlie made his live stream many of the new spriters started to do the 200% method. i personally dont unse it a lot but i had to do it (and learn it) since harlie forced me to for the dbz mod. also i do know that marti made the lf2 sprites in the 200% method. i read the presentation on the 13th zone once and it made a total sence. (cant bother getting link now).
one more trick is the one trickity does when making his chars is that he sprites at a 400% size.. kinda too big for me but he knows his suff.. his chars are awesome and all but i wish they had that "showing off" detailing. and since i started talking about methods and all theres one me and harlie tried to develop once. it goes on the basis that you sprite a sprite at 158x158 size BUT you use paint tools (the hard non initialized ones) then resize back to 79x79 size. kinda like this:
this is an awesome and fast way for making chars that me and harlie used to follow. i might make a tut on some techniques of spriting since you brought the discussion
nowadays i just tend to sprite the old style 79x79 way.. maybe sometimes of a sprites is a pain in the a** and has lots of detail i might go bog size. so what u guys think?? any techniques for the members to share??
