is it possible? i dont remember if someone did it yet o.o i tired to once upon a time but couldnt do it

it's not possible to do it in the bg.dat file, although you can fake it by setting the zboundary so that the characters can't go "down" the z axis enough to step over the grass layer.
possible way to actually have the grass render over the characters is to have a t3 object spawn (check advanced bg dc techniques), and move it all the way to the bottom of the z axis. but that wouldn't look nice for a map that suddenly has grass "appear"
