Revamped contest have more beutiful sprite, fusion sprite contest too etc.
Maybe reassons is of worse sprite is because there is no rules in making sprite.Its free contest.Nobody havent idea so do the simplest things(my opinion).

For my making sprites for winning is not so important, how is joy.

Hey, here is something funny:

Do they look familiar? Wait, where was this again? Ah, right, the winning entries of Contest #1, a spriting-challenge, with 79x79-dimensions. 21 entries in total. In a way, it's comparable to this one. Do these sprites look mindblowing to you? (this is a question that the reader should answer himself)

Regardless of what you think, I personally think, the average level of this contest is heaps higher than it was 3 years ago. Those that are new to spriting / have a slower learning-curve are clearly disadvantaged then. Which leaves just a handful of people producing sprites at an awesome level.

Then, there is the issue about the different tastes. I am pretty sure I can find for nearly any sprite somebody who thinks that it's great. The easiest thing would be to directly ask the author. I personally look at my works through rose-colored glasses, partially because I actually like what I did and partially because I'm proud that I managed to create something. Flaws? "Nah, it's perfect". Ask me a year later and I'll hide his face under a blanket. The point is that people managed to participate and create something decent is, at first, something to cheer for. The starters in the Olympic Games generally like to receive the gold-medal, breaking the world-record is secondary. It's perfectly fine not to vote, but a little more reasoning would've certainly helped strengthening your point.

Great... I have bad feeling that now everybody think i'm troll, who want offend anybody here, because "i'm better spriter than you, n000bs". - Hell no!

i just wanted to express my opinion, don't make here another big, unnecesary discussion, where the biggest personalities on this forum (YinYin, Apocalipsis) are against me.

Imho, the sprite he was talking about is not really that epic (technically and design-wise). It would at most get to 4th place.

ofc i know, it's really hard to make something, what will be epic for you. you're one of the best spriter. but i think Luti just wanted motivate me, because i'm still newbie spriter, i don't think i'm even "good" - i'm not a swank

I just hope you have a sprite in the poll, otherwise I don't see why are you complaining about people's lazyness and/or quality of the entries. If you have one I should expect it to be top positioned, if the rest of us can't make something better than you.

as i said i couldn't finish my sprite and i don't have any in pool. this part about laziness was just as irony. my complaning about all contest was just my trying to show that i just know you all can make something much better. you don't wanna say me you have there your best work?

and for sure i don't think i could win this contest. just if i could make some "good sprite", you can make 10x better sprite

I personally prefer a more simple, yet refined sprite for a change. Perhaps with a smooth animation like YinYin's. It might not blow your head like some of the oversized sprites, but it doesn't show any less of the spriter's skill.

mostly because a few ppl said they would take part and obviously didn't
because of that and knowing we have more than 20 participants beforehand i hoped to see a few more really good ones

Don't overreact. I'm not against you.
The thing is that, even when it's not strictly inadequate, I don't like the fact that you criticise the entries without even being able to do one.
Regarding this contest, every spriter with an entry is better than you. I could elaborate if you want.

no, you don't have to. it's some sad, that every spriter here is better than me, but i'd be very glad if you could write some c&c in my sprites thread. we shouldn't discuss here longer, it's not place for that.

That's one side of lfe, if you like or dislike it it is up to you. Obviously you don't like it or just can't get used to it, but I like this part. In fact it is the only way i can benefit this community, with the power of DISCUSSION.

I know this is directed to apoc, but I will answer it as well. YES! this is my best work. I already told you, but in my sprite career it was like this, i had big breaks in between. And i don't mean a week break from spriting, no at least 3 months or more. And when i sprited after a break again, my sprite level had dropped from acceptable to noob level again. I can't assure you this, but maybe there are others out there who did the same as me. And this is also why after all this years, i am not an awesome spriter here at lfe.

okay that was kinda offensive now. Comparing him to gad.. is well duh completely wrong. As mod and as non-mod i have been watching gad's personality and his ups and downs and at the same time already had a chat with the hari. Despite the general rule that nobody is completely like somebody else i think that the hari is completely different from gad, even when gad is not in his troll mode.

But to tell you the truth, my dear apoc. I value you and your sprites, so I will be honest: Your sprites are recently lacking the feeling of being awesome. Your skill level is still high, quality wise they are still perfect, but your creativity has dropped heaps and that gets me worried. I don't just mean the stuff here, also in revamp contest. That beast was a dead concept already, the fighter sprite was decent but nothing impressive so you had to save it with a beast, and it did save it but just barely.

this is just pissing me off. The deadline was extended because of me, and still there are people who say that they could have done so much better if they had more time, or others who say they had no time to finish up their sprite. I was counting the days already. I understand that some people had no time for it, that's okay. But just jumping in here and saying "I could have done so much better" or "i haven't finished yet" is unnecessary.

As the new comer, i expect from Hari to be more silent than he is now. "I am making sprites for 2 months". Sheesh, why someone should care about that?
