Silverthorn's Gallery
Every single pictures you made shocks me. I like all, but I can't draw all either. :D
This place motivates me to become an artist, this place motivates me to learn coding, this place made me grow up, showed me the ways to interact with people. Unlike the old childish of me myself, I've learned a lot and gotten some experiences. For me, it's not just a fan forum, it's a helpful community. From a noob to someone who would think before he speaks, looking back at my old post made me laugh hard, I'm grateful of the differences between these 2 years.

Mostly Photoshop-painting; sometimes, I also incorporate 3D-elements and photographs as well. For the painting-part, that's why I linked to the video. Illustrates my workflow, going from zero to rough sketch ;)

Varies quite a bit. The quicker pieces take usually 1-3h (and comparably small, 2k-4k px wide), the more elaborate ones any value above (the longest time I've spent on a painting was 60-90h, I forgot counting after a while, spread over several months).

Landscapes and planets are not new to blph. Apart from that i really dig the way u did :[Image: confrontation_by_blph-d50ti0q.jpg].
The feel of the picture, the scene of battling for life. Simple mind-boggling :O.
The speed painting is also awesome :o .

Well, that means I'd have to get an account for streaming stuff, possibly install more software that I don't really want to use, etc. I'll try to change some params so that PS doesn't lag as much and then I could maybe do another recording. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until I get the money together to buy myself a new computer. That could take a while... :p

Hi, I just had a quick look at some of your drawings and I noticed that all probably had the same approach to coloring as this one:
Blue Phoenix Wrote:On a related note, I finally decided to record a little speedpaint (took around 15-20 minutes or so). The end-result is this:
You know, first black white base, then coloring it with blend modes.
I don't know if you do this in all of your pieces, but at least I see a little hint of that method in each one of your works.

Now I'd have a little request; would you do a speedpainting again (Simple and quick as the one above), but this time with colors right from the beginning?

Sure, I can give it a shot. Maybe even within the upcoming week ;)

Quite a few (not all, but around 90%) of the images are, indeed, painted in b/w firstly and later colored. Happens to be easier to get the values correct. Plus, if you don't know what to paint and just doodle around, you can recognize shapes more quickly and go from there. But yeah, if time and inspiration overlap, I can surely do another one.

Yes, I also agree with you, that doodling around in black and white is probably better for inspiration. You also do that with pencils or any other medium, and black and white seems to be the most neutral. You get the most possible ideas out of your sketch, because you're not limited by color.
Anyways, I just saw a video of Feng Zhu, he also talked about how the initial "Chaos" in projects slowly gets organized. His approach reminded me of your speedpainting. And since he used colors straight away, I thought you'd be able to do as well.

Mmmh, yeah, I know about his videos. The core difference between Feng and me is probably that he's a long-time professional while I'm more of a hobbyist, so he actually "knows" where to go if he sees something interesting. Either way, I took the liberty to record myself once again, this time in color and at a little higher res (don't worry, it can barely go larger than this, considering that my laptop has a 1024x768-resolution :p).

Once again, completely silent; blame it on the cold I'm dealing with right now. That's why I'm curious if anybody is actually interested in having some commentary going alongside with the video or if extra-audio is redundant.

So, here you go: clicky

Oooh, yes! This was exactly what I meant!
Really good, there are now all these little color details that would get lost if you did the greyscale-color-blendmode-approach.

And, why not Zoidberg commentary? Would definitely be a nice idea, but I wonder if you could fill fifteen minutes with it.
