actually it is somewhat within 100 episodes and like 40 of them are fillers, and if u want i can mention them here too
its just that Rurouni Kenshin meets the guidelines of the Romance/Gore genre
actually watching till season 2 is enough as thats the best i guess :P

you should also take a look at samurai champloo and cowboy bebop. they are both about 26 episodes i think and got great storytelling and stylish animations.

There's a new anime called "blue exorcist" but i've only seen the 1st 10 episodes so far there are 25 of them so far...
but the new manga books for it came out since march i think, it's very interesting imo

Well, I dunno whether or not you will find these moving, but for some reason I liked 'Black Cat' and 'Blassreiter' a lot.
(I preferred the manga ending to 'Black Cat', tho)

Yeah, I've got only those two anime for you. But Mangas are a diferent matter.. I've read many of them mangaz.

Edit: Also, Hellsing for over the top badassery (and gore. The manga has gore). Oh yeah, and Demon Eyes Kyo xD (these are not at all thought provoking, you just see mad butchering.)

I'm watching Afro Samurai now, it's a very high quality anime with just five episodes (and a movie). Interesting fact, Samuel L. Jackson voices the protagonist. Also it contains a lot of gore, so watch it only if you are used to it xD

Scrapped princess is like 24 episodes long and the drawing style is nice (in the anime), there are fights (not gore) and it also has sad and funny parts so its interesting, but the story is quite simple.

Also, if you like saint seiya, you must watch the lost canvas ova. 26 episodes and awesome drawing style, its about the 'holy war' that happend before the one in the real series,and theres drama because hades is athena and pegasus 'brother' and bla bla bla... no lovestory at all

well, you gave me a lot of propositions, thanks. as a first i choosed Clannad and at this moment, i'm going watch last 2 episodes. yeah, this is something what i've searched. so i'd like to ask, if "Clannad after story" also is good anime. you know, sometimes second part/season of movie can destroy good memories from first part. i don't wanna this. also, would be glad if you could recommend me some anime similar to Clannad. from this what you guys already posted, i'm gonna watching Wolf's rain, Cowboy bebop and Fate stay night - they sounds interesting.

clannad afterstory contents the time after school and is mainly a sad story. but unlike 1. season you´ll miss the heroine, nagisa is the only one who get some scene with tomoya. although if you like clannad 1. season then watch afterstory too. you may also want to watch the 2 OVA episodes.
