Use smudge for realistic shading.

I think you have been taking original picture and smudging it to make it look more like drawing? If thats so, thats a bad Idea. If thats not the case, u need to have more clarity in your drawing. The hair seems unnatural . The hair has almost no shading on the right hand side (to us).

Make drawings from your imagination, use references but do not draw over it(mean on layers). It's just not fun.

Well there could be some details which are not same, because as for a shading, you lack of shading experience.

...maybe you didn't used layers but whole concept of remaking/"copying" already made art is wrong.
