Everything is great, i would suggest you to add details into sprite no matter on original.
Try different pose and avoid using background!

Skin is lack of contrast, well if you make revamp sprite you dont have to choose same color, mean same hue of green, blue, whatever.. cuze those old sprite dont have to be awesome. Mybe it alrady has problem with contrast and you just forward to new sprite.
in genaral i would preffer more darker hue of colors, this looks to childish, no offensive

OMG man i really liked the pose the hair the pants the colors OO
i liked everything keep this style up dude
but srsly change the blue shirt it dosent fit the style
just make it simple 2 values of blue and put the basic shape of the muscles, nothing more!

i would say also take that thick dark blue line at the upper part of the shirt and make it tiny so we hardly see it
take the light blue over this big dark blue

the bright hair and shine eyes make his skin look darker :o
his chest is so lowly lowly
because his shirt show a lot of his chest so it's a common mistake :o
