what new features would you like in lf2?
#41
A different exe for developers.. where we can see coordinates in map, and all the rectangle areas of bdy, itr etc are shown as a semi transparent layer above it..
Bdy : green, itrk1: red, etc etc.. and perhaps allow controls change and data change after loading too?

1 = punching.. You punch the opponents few time and they do the super punch..
2 = kicking.. same just he/she does super kick.

I like idea about 2 attacking buttons..
Well I will make it different for each character. Some may have punches and kicks, some may have ranged and close attack etc.

1. normal lf walking..
2. something like moving while in fighting stance.. imagine, Your char facing opponent and when you press arrow to move him in the opposite direction than enemy he actually doesn't turn. He make few little steps backwards(he is in the fighting stance all along) but if you press that arrow for opposite direction like 2 or 3 times he turns.
You might ask what is advantage, well i guess he has faster attacks and similar.
Idk would that work, probably won't. I am not saying its not possible to create it but you'll have to master it for along time.
I'm pretty sure that could be utilized by holding down a certain button (after a combination?). but do you really think it makes sense? lf2 if more like streets of rage than street fighter. you often face multiple enemies and most importantly on a wide battleground, while in streetfighter you always have close-up combat.

as soon as i get the basic AI done i guess this should be no problem :D

actually i wanted to make that an option in the regular game^^

i dont know if i wasnt clear enough about the loading before:

the game will load its entire data before the main screen.
after that you will be able to change controls, options and (later) import characters.

having the option of save state for survival or stage mode would be helpful.

You can say helpful, but imo it would make things way too easy and Stage Mode/Survival Stage would lose it's appeal ;)

I honestly didn't read if it got mentioned already but for everyone who uses different Stages/Characters it would be cool if you could switch the Stage in a "Mods" section you have in some other games too.

i thought about having a save feature for some modes, for example roguelike/grinding mode.
i can ofc also add a score grind mode in which saving isnt possible.

what exactly do you mean? like regular stages and mod stages?

im not quite sure how much editable content the game will have... i thought of this:
-users can submit characters (and possibly stages and backgrounds) to me
-i will then add this content to the game
-content will be unlockable via achievements

this way users will have to test their basic structure in lf2 though... or maybe i can make an editor especially for lf2 gm.

Yeah i meant different Stages.
It's kidna annoying if you have to rename your Stages to stage all the time. It would be pretty easy if you could just have an option in the main menu where you click on Stage and then like with playback recording you open a folder with all your Stages in it and then you could just choose which stage you wanna use.

I also have some other LF2 versions on my Laptop, it could be pretty cool if you have everything saved in one folder and you start your LF2 exe and get to choose which version you wanna play, but i am already happy with changing Stages :P

I think that you players should have the option to save a recording after the chart appears.

no recording as i said before.

what do you guys think about this?
every wait value is added to a character's time value (or whatever ill call it).
this time value can be changed by certain events, for example a slow spell.
that would make wait: 1
-> 1+time<0>
to
-> 1+time<1>
thus giving the player (or opponent) a slowdown.
this could also make time freeze possible by setting the cooldown timer the same as the time value

Sounds kinda interesting for a new freeze~
