Good one! The only thing I would go about changing in the sprite of yours is the hair color. Make it more darker than it is now and it will look even better! Also the hip part is little lower than it should be. Otherwise its a great fusion!

i like this one.
darker hair, higher hip, + bigger pupils, eyes generally should be bigger.

Maybe i would make him more ripped but that's your choice.

There are many programs that can be used in order to make sprites. My personal favorite is Adobe Photoshop, however it is shareware. There are many others, some are freeware and also very good. Ex: GIMP, Paint.net

It's mostly not about the software though, but about skill. You have to practice quite a lot if you want to be able to make sprites on this level.
