Tournament Rules
#11
@cooper
if you see neocrypt on any networks, vs him and ask him to pass me (via pm) or post here a report on how "good" you are. (coz there are heaps of people who think they're good but they're not, but also some that fight online and are good, but never come to the forums, and so we don't know who are who). I don't wanna test u myself coz i'm busy this week, and also it might not be a good idea to vs someone entering the tournament before the tournament actually begins (tactics wise).

actually, posting screenshots of battles against him will be fine.

What's the problem for char selection?

Erm, with Rules no 10: actually we need to specify when newcomers can take part in tournaments. My only guess is they should fight another person which is already allowed to play in tournaments. This guy reports about battle or so. Not a very good idea, so do you have beter ones?

char selection - I'd prefer random, and no reset randoms (except after battles) when characters you don't like happen to be what you get. (not that it affects me, but some characters do have advantages over others =\). letting them choose imbalances stuff a bit.

number 10, generally that would be the idea, but if that's done, it would leak some tactics to the other player. The best would be to get someone who does have experience, but isn't entering in the tournament. I suggested Neocrypt coz I know he does have experience, but hasn't played in a while so probably won't enter. but he would know who has experience or not (and whether they would drop out and stuff). There are others, but I'm not sure they're still around to play.

to many rules?
erm, if it's to long for you to read then I can't help you :p

Actually I suggest something different for rule number 10: everybody gets a chance, but if he don't fight in the tournament his usergroup will be changed to a coward-group or so. I doubt they want this ...

Opinions plz...

Ridiculous idea to humiliate somebody for dropping out.
If they have never played online in their life before under "professional" rules they shouldn't be allowed to participate in the first place as they'd get their a** handed to them anyhow.

Maybe we could get irc to be a place to hang out for fights though, if we can get enough lurkers! It's certainly more efficient than MSN (in the sense of multiple people in a channel, not contact lists full of only people you know) and there shouldn't be any issues either, apart from getting people in there in the first place.
When they're in there, they could gather experience in fighting from others (assuming there's others in there, preferably people who already play under more competitive rules) and ..yeah pretty much would be able to join the tournament <<;

..It's hard enough to get that going though, plus I know how some people are rather closed-minded concerning such utensils as irc, primarily since they're a bit confusing at first, so eh.

it's not us who humiliate them (at least i wouldn't unless they are really really noob-ish and complain about stuff without trying to learn), it's them who feel bad coz they aren't used to the slowness, and feel that it isn't fair coz they can't get their inputs right (everyone goes through this phase the first time they play online in slow conditions). Course, we don't want to go easy on them coz it's a "standard" sort of thing. plus, there are technique(s) u learn as u play, and just teaching someone the technique(s) without them actually having to work to see if it works is a bit... how'd u call it? like when someone uses something of yours that u worked hard to get. course, there are limits to how "hostile" and "friendly" you get, coz it affects the fight style and stuff.

You might have misunderstood me, when reading this I don't even see any sort of hint at MH's idea of a "coward-group" on the forums for the dropouters.

And the rest you're talking about, I don't see why one couldn't organize a few matches prior to the tournament to gain some experience, preferably with tournament-goers themselves.
