transformation into a certain frame of the character
#11
Take louis for example- He can hurt his enemys with his armor before he finaly transforms into louisEX.
So if you wanna have a blastaway just put some opoints or itrs in the transforming frames---

Make both characters transformable for state 8000. Then, in the transform-move, you activate a stuck frame (type 0) which is there for 5 TUs, then you can delete it. This stuck frame has a bdy at y: 1000.

In the character you transform into create a itr/kind 8 in frame 0 which leads to the frame you need with the dvx calue

Have fun ^_^

@bambori: sure catch would work, too, but you need to work with state 18, hide burning smoke and stuff... much more complicated...)

Following suggestion: does a player need to know which character is used in a certain moment? Not necessarily. What if your character already transforms visually (by that, I mean sprite-wise), opoints some stuff (you could actually copy the move from the other character), and then, after the attack has begun, transforms into the new one. Easiest method I guess.

Silva Wrote:If you were making a mod I could make a new transform state(pretty much like 4xxx) and you stay on the same frame after transforming. So basically lets say you use state 4000 on frame 320, after you transform your character will be in frame 320 so you just do "next: 60" and he punches :D.

I AM MAKING A MOD.
and i was thinking if you could do that for me.
and this

Silva Wrote:I could make

just made me happy:)

so, can you put that in a cfg update?:D

PS:

so you wont be wasting time.

@silva
can you show me an example of your way?

My way involves editing the lf2.exe file. So basically if you are making a single character you'd have to give out a modified lf2.exe file as well, which isn't really acceptable traditionally if it is just one single character. If your are making a mod it is a different story. I guess I'll go do it now.

When transforming, use state 4000 instead of 8000 ( Plus you don't have to worry about image shifting and all that). The frame stays the same, so if for example you use the state on 320, after you transform the character will stay on 320.

Just wondering, did you test it? I lack my tester/dc dude(a.k.a yinyin) so I couldn't test before releasing. I just made sure it didn't crash and thats it:p.

actually it gets us rid of many 'advanced' dc methods - which is a good thing because hard coded stuff works instantly and smooth
topping this new feature with yet again complex dc stuff wouldn do it justice

confirmed to be working perfectly - no bugs related to new or original state found

wonderful idea making it just stay in the same frame btw

edit:

i still dont quite get why you really need some complex dcing or hex editing for just that when you can simply put that into the transformation sequence ... (especially when it really is a classic character transform only serving the purpose of switching to another character ... ie no type change or anything that would necessarily require that action to be in the transformed object)
