Somehow i got a bad feeling that you use other sprites as bases.
Do you ever ask when you use them?
Well, the sprites do look good, but with a bit more practice (with scratch sprites) you would make even better original sprites..
Im just sayin'

I'm not very creative with stances
i want to make this hot emo chick (a friend of Maya's)

Bah, you're getting so good at this that its a pain in the arse that you don't put your skills to making full characters.
Creating full sheets is a really good way to improve your ability to draw new stances, which is why I place alot of emphasis on them. *hint hint*
Create a full character, use bases for stances, modify them to create new moves, and slowly bit by bit start getting used to drawing stances from scratch.
"I may devour the five continents, and swallow the three seas, but a body with neither wings, nor hands, nor feet, is powerless against the sky."
My stuff:
| sprites | frozen |
1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

I make the head either too big or too small the body would be ok

and when you practice stances you should practice both "normal, special" and when i say special not just standing there but like ready to make something.
well all have are ups and downs LC so you keep practicing i know you can do great stuff.

The avatar you see here is one of the 3 stances i have made without copy&paste a stance
so this was a stance made by me (yeah finnally) ~ lots of trial & error to make it somewhat right
the trouble i'm having right now is coloring the axe to be luminous
the actual luminosity does not appear when i adjust the [RGB] (instead the handle turns green)
i got the axe part really good, but i would like to try a new approach...
does anybody know how i can make it luminite with light blue-ish color?
please put the steps in a spoiler, thank you
i need some help, it is very hard to capture Gordon in stances when it is immediately processed not even video can capture it right, it keeps skipping pics, so i only get 2 pics
I only have pics of random and blurry stances...
unlike LF2 F1 & F2 button...
HF has Shift+P which only pauses the game
F2 in LF2 shows the next steps still pausing it
I guess Marti just didn't feel like implementing such things into the game...
so yeah can someone pm the pics of every pic on Gordon?
[this may take longer if no one is willing - cause i really need to visualize]
[writing out a tut doesn't help, visualization and practice works, thats how i've learned

I can't understand why people say you're sprites are average, they are awesome! The prob is that if you don't make a char out of them, then they don't have much value but you sure have the talent to make sprites. I understand though because I, too tried to start a char (way lower quality than yours) and i'm eating my life away just for a row of standing and breathing frames, doubt it's ever going to be over
