if jerkington really is mafia only, where do you see the real sheriff saying "OMFG! He lies! He's mafia, I'm the real sheriff!!1"
not even something close to that had happened, so jerk for sure got my trust...

Well I think the real sheriff wouldn't just burst up and say "hey he is in mafia" right and then get killed.
Also Jerk might not be the real sheriff but undercover or a godfather who the real sheriff is trusting and thinks he is a good and smart guy.
This can only be proofed after time.
