I just made this sprite, it's, quite obviously, a very simple mod of Woody. Still, I'm thinking of maybe making a char out of it later. Any criticism/comments/suggestions?

Whoa, that does look pretty awesome ;D
The breathing is a bit exaggerated though, and his jacket is longer on our left side, which looks strange.
But yeah, this looks like a character which could turn out very entertaining ;D
I did this to you for obvious reasons. You have just wasted a lot of time. Congratulations.
Still with the same joke? ;D - Simoneon

Thanks! I think the breathing just looks that way because it turned out having too fast a framerate, although I'm not sure. The jacket is supposed to be longer on the left side, it's supposed to look strange

its quite a cool sprite
the only thing i would like to see is perhaps his arms moving just slightly slower than his torso, so he doesnt look so wooden.
or you could make them move outward 1 pixel.
but yeah, i like the left side being longer, its fits him as well as the colour scheme

I changed the breating animation so the arms move a little slower, but I think that, if anything, that made it look even less natural.

Also, henceforth he shall be known as The Fool.

I'd recommend getting rid of the grey outlines on the jester cap.
"I may devour the five continents, and swallow the three seas, but a body with neither wings, nor hands, nor feet, is powerless against the sky."
My stuff:
| sprites | frozen |
1) DO NOT PM ME
2) Go read up on anatomy and proportions online. (google is your best friend)
3) Go read up on pencil sketching-shading.
4) Practice by making FULL character sheets. (Refer to bases and references if you have to, occasionally try doing things from scratch. You have to mix both methods; bases and without.)
5) DO NOT be an arrogant, self-righteous prick when people try to give useful critiques, and ignore the ones who are flaming idiots. (Flaming them back makes you one of them.)
6) Repeat steps 2 to 5 until you're happy, or you think you're good, then start sharing your knowledge with your fellow spriters.
7) Showcase your sprites. At first, do not be discouraged when you don't get any critiques, or lousy/generic critiques. Continue practicing and showcasing your work. With more sprites, it will be clearer what your strengths and weaknesses are, and people may be better able to give you better critique.
Lastly, if you think saying all this makes me an arrogant, self-righteous prick who is too selfish to share his knowledge...
Then I say you cannot recognise wisdom when I've just slapped you in the face with it. (Also, those steps are the same steps I used to get to where I am, I don't know any way else to truly learn.)
Unless you think its worth my time, go F*** yourselves. I'm not going to bother to even reply to PMs like "can you help me make this character?" anymore.

Agreed. The outlines are bugging alot.
But other than that, he is pretty amazing! The colours go very well together, the idea of the two-coloured jacket is totally fresh!
Maybe you could give him more... artistic (?) shoes. You know. Not such plain grey shoes, but some coloured/painted sneakers, or I don't know.

Thanks for the advice, Siegvar and Lauli. How's this?
I'm not sure what I was thinking when I made the outlines in the first place.

And I changed the shoes! Now they're jester-like!

His orange shirt part actually gets up more than the hand.
And shade the boots more.
Change the hair maybe?
But I just have one word; AWESOME! Hope this is gonna turn a char....

There. One last improvement to the breathing animation. Now the only thing stopping me from making a whole character out of it is laziness!
