ok- here's my contest entry. oh and that spritesheet, i stopped doing it, the super attack was... too hard.

Yeah it was hard I think. I like that flaming davis thingy.
-Looks flaming and good colour usage
-Need some more flaming effects so it's like FLAME
-No face?

Looks quite good. However, you might want to have a look at the LF2 burning sprites to get an impression of how a burning char should look like.
I think your sprite is too bright, you should try to use red and yellow/orange for the sprite itself and white or bright yellow for highlights only. And, as Taniaetc pointed out, flaming effects would be nice( but hard to do)
If you want to spent even more effort, you can have a look at the fire-pic tutorials in here. They aren't completely LF2-style, but who says they have to be?

I see that's based from Deep. I like that burning flames. PWNSOME. You should make a char out of it.

I'd say something assymetric, a single glove (a gauntlet, perhaps?) or a torn sleeve. (And now you can make it nice when flipped too :P)
