When there is a chance that people just look at the image and say "oh, that's alec!", I don't see a problem why not

If you all do the same person, it's still perfectly fine. It doesn't matter who you pick or how many entries depicting that person have been submitted
Ergo: no need to restart.

Either or. I have decided upon the person I am going to work on. I already have my concept all thought out for how I am going to make... 'The Blue Phoenix'. I hope I don't disappoint you BP.
