most of your newest sprites are detailed but:
-if you have probs with bases try to overdraw existing ones (sometimes your sprites look a bit disproportional)
-like pf said, blur it a bit
btw the hair is awesome (in your ava).

okay then, but you should study the lf2 proportioned sprites
smooth -> blurred, whereas pixely -> sharp

in order to learn how to make proper proportioned base from scratch you will first need to draw over existing bases (like tania pointed) to study the lf2 proportions and learn them.

for example take luthicris when he first started with spriting he kept using bases every time. despite every one telling him to try making them from scratch. after a while he tried it and i think he made quite impressing sprites from scratch. but then again i can clearly see thru his latest sprites that he is back on using existing bases.

anyways long story short start spriting over lf2 sprites for like a months then try to make scratch sprites and see what happens...

Well if you don't want to go back to bases there's always Figure Drawing for practice.

Its a much more difficult process at this point but eventually everyone has to do it to get away from bases and still get proportions right. Its just a matter of when they decide to.

Still.. bases are a better idea... as long as you always change bases. don't get stuck on one type of base.
